A pop flash is a flashbang thrown so it explodes almost immediately after becoming visible to opponents, giving them little or no time to look away.
In Counter-Strike 2, pop flashes are used to break enemy crosshair placement and create a brief opening for a peek, a site take, or a retake. They are most effective when the flash pops around a corner, off a wall, or above cover so the thrower’s team can move while opponents are blinded but the thrower’s teammates are not. The value of a pop flash comes from timing and positioning: it lets a player take space without needing a long setup or a full utility dump.
Example: on Mirage, a player can throw a pop flash over the mid boxes so it detonates as teammates swing into Connector, forcing defenders to turn away before they can aim.
