Barracks: What are barracks in Dota 2?

Barracks are buildings in Dota 2 for each lane behind Tier 3 towers that spawn Lane creeps unless destroyed. Destroying a barracks grants the team super creeps that work for them, in that specific lane. For example, if a team destroys a barracks in the left lane, then the left lane will start spawning super creeps. There are two kinds of barracks in each lane, one being Melee Barracks on the right and the other being Ranged Barracks [1] on the left

If someone destroys all of the barracks in the enemy’s base, then the game will announce with a sound to inform both teams that mega creeps have spawned for the team that destroyed all of the barracks. Mega creeps are super creeps but stronger

Which Barracks should you destroy first in Dota 2?

There’s no definitive answer as to which barracks should someone destroy first in Dota 2 as it all depends on multiple factors. If you want to start pushing the enemy base, destroy a melee barracks first because the super creeps that spawn from there allow for better pushing powers. On the other hand, you should destroy a ranged barracks if you want to get a slight advantage and it’s easy for you to attack the building.

As with almost every strategy in Dota 2 [2], everything is situational so destroy the barracks that’s most convenient at the time. If you’re able to take a barracks down quickly, go for the melee one. However, if you feel like you’re going to lose a fight, attack the ranged barracks and back out.
