A one-trick is a player who mainly plays a single hero, often to the exclusion of most of the roster.
In Overwatch 2, the term is usually descriptive and sometimes critical: a one-trick may know one hero’s matchups, positioning, and mechanics very well, but can struggle when the team needs a different role, when the chosen hero is countered, or when a map favors a different playstyle. The label matters because hero swaps are a core part of the game’s strategy, so a one-trick can either be a specialist asset or a draft limitation depending on the situation. For example, a player who always locks Widowmaker, even on brawl-heavy maps where the team would benefit more from a close-range damage dealer, is being called a one-trick.
