ADAD / strafe is a movement technique in VALORANT where a player quickly alternates left and right movement to make themselves harder to hit while staying ready to stop and shoot accurately.
It works because moving targets are more difficult to track, but firing while still moving makes bullets inaccurate, so the key skill is to strafe, then briefly counter-move or stop before taking a shot. Players use ADAD strafing to peek corners, dodge an enemy’s crosshair, and create small timing gaps in a duel. For example, when holding a long angle, a player may tap left and right near cover to bait a shot, then stop on the final strafe and fire back the moment the opponent misses.
