The Operator, often called the Op, is VALORANT’s most powerful sniper rifle, designed to kill in one shot to the body or head and punish long-range peeks.

It is usually bought on defensive halves or by players holding long sightlines, since its high cost and slow handling make it risky in close-range fights. The Operator matters because it can lock down lanes, force opponents to use utility before crossing open angles, and create space by threatening an instant pick. A common example is a defender on Haven watching C Long: a single well-timed shot can stop a push before the attackers enter the site.
