Wingman was a game mode that was added to CS:GO as part of an event back in 2017. However, in the same year, the mode was made to be permanent, even though most other event modes have been temporary.
The wingman mode is like any other competitive mode, with the most significant difference being that there are only two members in each team. Because of this, the maps are also made to be smaller and more compact. After all, they don't want the players to spend half of every round just looking for each other.
The matches take place on small maps with one bomb site and a best-of-16 format. Unlike the regular modes, there are invisible walls forcefully making the maps smaller than they should be, and the spawn sites are changed to be closer to the bomb site.
