Flick: What does it mean to hit a flick on someone?

The meaning of Flick is when someone spontaneously moves the mouse or controller analog from one corner to another to shoot or select something that’s far away in-game. Players mostly use this term in FPS games like Counter-Strike, Valorant, and Call of Duty. The technique requires a sudden movement to aim at an enemy and hit the shot immediately afterward.

Flicking is very difficult and requires years of practice to execute consistently. Players often spend lots of time in practice ranges and matches to get good at flick shots, failing numerous times before getting it right. Flick shotting is a type of skill that’s based on raw mechanical ability rather than game sense.

How to get good at flick shots?

As mentioned previously, getting good at flick shots requires lots of practice. Use practice maps and ranges to work on your aim and change the sensitivity to match your preference. Valorant features its practice range where you can set the difficulty, and you can download various workshop maps in Counter-Strike 2 where you can practice your aim. Remember, this is not an overnight process and usually takes years, so invest the time to get good at flick shotting.

You can also use third-party apps like Aimlabs [1]and Kovaak's FPS Aim Trainer, where you can simulate multiple environments to practice in. Also, buy the right equipment because flicking with a standard controller or mouse can be difficult.

For a good mouse, go for one with a high polling rate so it updates more often and your shots are more accurate. For controllers, try a SCUF controller or any other similar professional one that features sensitivity adjustment and smooth analogs.
