In video games, HvH, or Hack vs Hack, is a scenario where players fight against their opponents using cheats or hacks because they think the enemies are also using cheats. This mostly happens in games where hacking is prevalent, like Counter-Strike or Call of Duty. Instead of playing the game regularly, people use exploits like aimbots, wallhacks, spinbots, and more to defeat enemies.
The gaming community dislikes HvH because it causes an unfair environment for people trying to play the game regularly. Games with good anti-cheats do different things with hackers. Titles like Valorant [1] and Counter-Strike ban the account or set an IP ban to lock the person from playing the game online again. On the other hand, Call of Duty pits hackers against other hackers so they get a taste of their own medicine.
HvH isn’t always bad because there are community lobbies and servers where players with cheats and hacks can play without repercussions. Doing HvH in official matchmaking servers where it’s clear that cheating is not allowed is disliked in the community and will often result in bans.
For the previously mentioned community lobbies, people do HvHs there so that different developers can test their hacks against others to see which performs better. If someone wants to do a HvH match in Counter-Strike, they can navigate to HvH.gg [2] and choose from a list of servers to test their cheats.
