https://tapin.gg/ (TapIn Platforms, Inc) is a Miami-based privately owned company ^[1] specializing in teammate services for League of Legends, Valorant, and similar online competitive games with a ranking system. Alongside this, they also provide coaching and “play with a female teammate” services.

While Tapin.gg was initially founded in 2021 ^[2], its services didn’t officially take off until 2022 after which it utilized the celebrity power of several content creators as well as its Miami-based parent company TapIn Platforms, Inc. to gain significant traction in the gaming community. The TapIn website is owned and provided by TapIn Platforms, Inc.

As of March 2024, the company boasts just under 900 reviews on Trustpilot, out of which 98% of them are 5-star reviews. However, around 1% of those reviews give the teammates service-providing website a 1-star review. Most of the company’s negative reviews stem from accusations of unprofessional behavior from employees or poor treatment of teammates by the company’s higher-ups ^[3].

Tapin.gg was founded in 2021 by Κωστας Μαυρομάτης, also known as his online alias, infinitygreco, or just Infinity. Tapin headquarters is located in Miami, Florida, United States ^[4], and the business is funded by Goodwater Capital, a consumer tech investor that empowers entrepreneurs ^[5], along with Valhalla Ventures and GFR Fund. The website received an undisclosed amount from all three investors.

While the business doesn’t have traditional social media accounts like Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter), it does heavily advertise using YouTube and TikTok. Additionally, Tapin.gg’s marketing scheme includes joining hands with popular content creators from platforms like Twitch and having them inform their audience of the website’s existence.

Provided Services

At the time of writing, Tapin.gg provides coaching and teammate services for League of Legends, Valorant, CS2, and Fortnite. The website’s home screen suggests that games like Apex Legends, Call of Duty Warzone, and Teamfight Tactics are slated to join the website’s offerings soon, although a date hasn’t been given as of yet.

Tapin.gg also provides different services exclusive to certain games. For example, the League of Legends services include playing with a Twitch streamer while they’re streaming, while the Fortnite one includes 1v1 training with a high-level coach.

The service Tapin.gg advertises the most is its “play with a female teammate” service which allows customers to play with one or multiple female gamers employed by Tapin.gg.

Services Controversy

While minor, Tapin.gg has been in two controversies in its short time of operating. The first was about the ethical implications of purchasing a boost from a website like Tapin.gg and then advertising it. This specific controversy initially began when a Tapin.gg customer posted a clip of them reaching Platinum in League of Legends after purchasing a boost on Reddit, which resulted in the entire subreddit bashing him and him eventually condoning the actions too ^[6].

Additionally, the second controversy Tapin.gg has been in is an ongoing one that questions whether the website’s services are misleading. Although Tapin.gg’s website advertises itself as providing “hire a teammate” services, that’s not what its YouTube and TikTok do.

On the contrary, the Tapin.gg YouTube channel in particular tends to write comments like “Want to rank up even easier than with these no-brain champs?” This gives the impression that Tapin is a boosting service website, similar to other popular boosting websites like Eloking and EB24.

Customer Feedback

The overall customer feedback for Tapin.gg’s services has been positive, something that’s showcased by how many positive reviews it has on its Trustpilot. While there are a handful of negative reviews, mostly citing the website’s unprofessional or predatory behavior, those that were posted before February 2024 have in-depth and detailed responses.

Most positive reviews specifically mention a teammate or coach with whom they had a positive experience, suggesting that the boosters likely ask customers to leave a positive review at the end of every successful order.

App Store Applications

To make things easier for both customers and potential teammates, Tapin.gg has two individual applications available to download for free on the App Store ^[7]. The apps are provided by Lobby Platforms, Inc. which is a California-based company [8]^[8].

The first is titled “TapIn - Teammate: Play & Earn,” and is developed for potential and current teammates. The app streamlines applying to be a teammate, accepting orders, communicating with customers, and accepting payments. Oddly enough, this website is only available on the App Store for iPhone. 

The second application is titled “Tapin: Get a Pro Teammate.” Unlike the first one which is developed for teammates/employees of Tapin.gg, this one is strictly for customers. Users can do the same thing they could do on the website using this application like selecting the specifics of their order and chatting with their assigned coaches or teammates. 

However, both of the applications are rather unpopular. The teammate one has two reviews and both of them are perfect 5-star ones. On the other hand, the customer application doesn’t have a single review, suggesting most users and teammates probably just opt to use the website instead of the application.
