Venom in Marvel Rivals [1] is a beginner-friendly Vanguard hero built for players who want to absorb damage and control the flow of battle. His playstyle revolves around his natural bulk and the passive ability Symbiotic Resilience, which grants him bonus health when his HP is low. If you master this mechanic, you’ll turn Venom into a nearly unstoppable tank that thrives in the heart of every fight.
Besides soaking up damage, Venom excels at disrupting enemy formations with abilities like Cellular Corrosion, which snares enemies, and Frenzied Arrival, which lets him slam down from above and launch targets into the air. His Venom Swing also provides excellent mobility, letting him reposition quickly or engage from unexpected angles. Venom can also traverse difficult terrain with ease, making him a surprisingly agile frontline hero.
Venom lashes out with his tentacles to strike enemies at close range. The attack has a short reach but is quick and reliable, allowing Venom to pressure foes in melee combat. While it doesn't deal massive damage on its own, it works well in combination with his other disruptive abilities to keep enemies on the back foot.
Venom dives underground and erupts beneath his enemies, dealing significant damage. The damage output scales with the target’s current health, making it particularly lethal against low-health enemies. Additionally, Venom gains bonus health based on the damage dealt, allowing him to sustain himself in fights and continue pressing the advantage after a successful hit.
Using his tendrils, Venom swings across the battlefield in a chosen direction. This ability has a cooldown, so it must be used thoughtfully rather than spammed. It provides excellent mobility for engaging, escaping, or quickly rotating between objectives, helping Venom maintain constant pressure on the enemy team.
This passive ability empowers Venom’s tankiness. When taking damage, Venom generates bonus health, and the lower his health gets, the more bonus HP he produces. This makes him especially dangerous to engage when he appears to be low on health, as he can rapidly recover and turn the tide of battle.
Venom lunges at enemies from above, slamming into them to deal damage and launching them into the air. This ability is great for initiating fights or catching fleeing opponents, as the knock-up effect disrupts enemy formations and creates opportunities for follow-up attacks from Venom’s teammates.
Venom extends his tentacles to grab an enemy, immobilizing them. The trapped target can escape by moving away, but if they fail to break free, they’ll suffer damage over time. This ability is perfect for isolating high-priority targets or interrupting dangerous enemy abilities mid-cast.
Venom’s passive enhances his mobility by allowing him to crawl on walls and sprint along them. This gives him unique traversal options across the map, letting him take unconventional routes to surprise enemies or escape from danger.
When partnering with Spider-Man or Peni Parker, Venom grants them access to his Symbiote powers. They become shrouded in Venom spikes, dealing damage to nearby enemies. This transformation enhances their offensive capabilities and adds extra pressure during coordinated attacks, turning the team into a dangerous frontline force.
