A Squishy Save is a save made by hitting the ball off the back wall or near the goal line and then turning the car through the play, often by landing or driving upside down, so the defender clears the ball while staying in position.
The term comes from a well-known Rocket League defensive play popularized by pro player SquishyMuffinz. It usually happens when a shot is already past the first challenge and the defender has to improvise with a backboard touch, a recovery, or a reverse-angle contact to keep the ball out. Squishy Saves matter because they let a player stop dangerous shots without giving up immediate pressure, especially when the goalkeeper is facing the wrong direction or has little boost. For example, a defender may jump from the goal line, hit a shot that is dropping toward the net off the backboard, and land backward into the ball to push it away from the crease.
