BLAST faces legal trouble after replacing BESTIA at CS2 Major

BLAST ^[1] has replaced BESTIA with Legacy for the upcoming CS2 Austin Major, citing visa issues and missed deadlines. According to the organizer, BESTIA failed to submit the required travel documents on time, despite repeated reminders. Legacy, the next eligible team from the South American RMR rankings, has taken their spot.

But the situation quickly escalated. BESTIA’s CEO challenged BLAST’s claims, sharing proof of approved visas and accusing the company of ignoring their outreach. The fallout includes legal action, political involvement, and a frustrated fanbase, all of which now hang over one of CS2’s biggest events.

Why did BLAST replace BESTIA with Legacy at the CS2 Austin Major?

BLAST removed Argentine team BESTIA from CS2 Austin Major 2025, mentioning visa issues for two players as the main reason. The tournament organizer claimed BESTIA missed the May 21 deadline to submit the needed U.S. travel documentation despite “multiple reminders and support.” Legacy, the next South American RMR-ranked team, was their replacement. BLASE emphasized adherence to strict operational deadlines approved by Valve, Counter-Strike’s developer, to ensure fairness.

BESTIA CEO Alejandro “PapoMC” Lococo disputed BLAST’s narrative, saying his players secured visas before the deadline and accusing the organizer of ignoring their communications. Lococo shared images and videos online showing approved visas, stating, “We wanted to resolve this fairly, See you in court.” The team’s exclusion sparked outrage among fans, with numerous asking about BLAST’s transparency and handling of the situation.

What’s next for BLAST and BESTIA after the backlash?

BESTIA has started legal actions against BLAST in Texas and London courts, marking an unparalleled escalation in esports governance disputes. Argentine political figures also intervened, with presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni confirming government assistance to accelerate visas and condemning BLAST’s decision. “Just do everything to let them participate,” Adorni stated.
