Creep skip, or creep cut, is when a hero leaves the normal lane wave path and kills or delays enemy creeps behind the front line so the enemy wave does not meet your own wave in the usual place. It is used to deny farm, manipulate lane position, and force an opponent to choose between last-hitting under pressure or leaving lane to respond. The tactic is most common on durable offlaners or heroes with wave-clear, mobility, or strong early damage, because they can safely intercept the next wave away from their tower.
For example, an offlaner may run behind the enemy tier 1 tower, clear the incoming creep wave before it reaches the river, then retreat before the enemy support can punish the move. This can keep the lane pushed toward the opponent side, slow their core’s experience gain, and create space for a team to pressure another part of the map.
