The Esports World Cup [1] is easily one of the most anticipated tournaments in all of gaming. With the tournament covering a wide range of games, it makes sense that those from various parts of life would tune in to root for their favorite teams. However, it could be argued that the League of Legends tournament is the best in terms of popularity.
T1, the League of Legends team that has legends like Faker and Oner, was the team to win 2024’s Esports World Cup. However, that won’t be the case this year, as the team was knocked out by a dark horse that few fans expected would make any waves.
Here’s how T1 was knocked out of the League of Legends Esports World Cup, and what you need to know about AL.

How did T1 get eliminated from EWC 2025?
T1 was eliminated from 2025’s Esports World Cup by Anyone’s Legend. Those who didn’t tune into MSI will likely be unfamiliar with Anyone’s Legend, considering the ongoing EWC is only the team’s second international tournament. However, it can’t be argued that the team has more than enough skills to dominate the scene.
Those who were unable to watch the match between T1 and AL should definitely watch a replay or something similar. After all, T1 lost with a final score of 0-2, with Anyone’s Legend winning and moving on to the grand final. Of course, this doesn’t mean T1 was rechincally eliminated, since the team still has a chance to come third.
AL absolutely dominated T1 in the first game, not giving the team a single chance to recover. With AL targeting T1’s ADC, Gumayusi, the team didn’t have the required firepower to take down the Chinese team. While T1 managed to take two dragons, that didn’t mean much, considering AL was still winning every team fight.
The second game was a little closer, but that was primarily because AL seemed to be taking things slow. The team continued to slowly accumulate kills and secure objectives, and that culminated when T1 attempted to make a surprise push. While the team secured Baron and won a handful of good fights, the last team fight the team initiated resulted in only Doran being left alive. With that done, it was just an easy task of AL pushing for T1’s Nexus and moving to the grand final.
Now, Anyone’s Legend is slated to face off against Gen.G, one of the strongest League of Legends teams out there. While Gen.G is on an impressive winning streak and has largely remained undefeated for months now, if there’s any team that could potentially break this winning streak, it’s AL.
