All leaked abilities for Blade in Marvel Rivals

All leaked abilities for Blade in Marvel Rivals

Blade is bringing his vampire-hunting style to Marvel Rivals [1] in Season 3, and thanks to recent data mines, we now have a solid look at his full kit. While none of this information is final, it gives us a strong idea of how Blade might play once he joins the roster. These abilities were uncovered through game files and test builds, so some names, effects, or mechanics may change before his official release.

That said, the current leaks suggest that Blade will be a fast-paced hybrid Duelist who switches between sword and gun modes. He’ll combine strong single-target damage with mobility, lifesteal, and utility tools to pressure enemies in both casual and competitive matches.

Without any further delay, here are all of the leaked abilities that the long-awaited Blade will have when he slashes his way into Marvel Rivals Season 3.

All of Blade’s abilities in Marvel Rivals

Blade’s leaked abilities in Marvel Rivals show a hybrid fighter who can switch between sword and gun modes to adapt to different situations. His melee attack, Blade Chopper, deals strong close-range damage, while the Hunting Gun offers explosive mid-range pressure.

Step and Chop gives him a versatile dash that applies anti-heal or slows depending on his equipped weapon. Blood Liberation transforms him into a self-sustaining vampire with lifesteal but blocks external healing. Defensive Stance helps him survive frontal attacks, and his rumored ultimate, New Moon, lets him charge through enemies with spinning sword strikes that deal heavy area damage.

Blade Chopper (Sword mode)

Blade Chopper is Blade’s main melee attack. While in sword mode, he unleashes a powerful forward slash with Dracula’s sword, dealing powerful single-target damage. This close-range burst is perfect for winning 1v1 fights or finishing off low-health opponents.

Casual players can reliably use it to deal damage to any nearby enemy. On the other hand, advanced players can find its true potential when comboing it post-dash or using it to ambush enemies from behind. Blade Chopper has a relatively short cooldown, so you can weave it into combos with abilities like Step and Chop.

Hunting Gun (Gun Mode)

Switching to gun mode, Blade uses his Hunting Gun to fire a long-range explosive round. This shot explodes on impact and sprays shrapnel, dealing mid-range splash damage. With the Hunting Gun, you can keep enemies at bay and control the fight from afar. In casual play, it offers a safer way to deal damage without committing. In competitive matches, it’s crucial to wear down enemies or push back their support characters.

The cooldown on the Hunting Gun is reasonably average, making it good for consistently damaging your enemies. Since it creates an explosion over an area, it can also push back enemies trying to flank or help control narrow paths with its impact.

Step and Chop

Step and Chop is a versatile dash/attack ability that changes effect based on Blade’s weapon. When triggered, Blade sprints forward. If Blade has his gun out when he lands, he’ll immediately fire, applying a nasty anti-heal effect that makes it harder for the target to recover health.

However, if the sword is equipped, he’ll hit his target with a slash that cuts down their movement speed. This makes Step and Chop a strong chase and utility tool. In gun mode, this ability is fantastic for stopping enemy healers or characters who regenerate health. It also becomes a great tool for catching up to enemies or keeping them at a distance. Players can use it to dash into fights or escape easily during casual matches. In competitive play, precise use is key since its cooldown is moderate, and timing your dashes for fights or retreats is important.

Blood Liberation

Blood Liberation is Blade’s signature vampiric mode. When Blade activates it, he transforms into a vampire, gaining lifesteal from his attacks and becoming immune to external healing. Essentially, this switches all his blood to Dracula’s blood. Blade loses external healing (no medkits or heals work on him), but each hit he lands restores his health. This makes him very self-sufficient in fights.

In casual play, you can use Blood Liberation when committing to a kill or digging into a group, since you’ll heal yourself by dealing damage. In more competitive matches, timing is key. It’s smart to activate this ability just before you’re about to fight an enemy head-on or chase someone with low health. That way, you can get the most out of lifesteal. During Blood Liberation, other attributes are also heightened, as leaks suggest “stronger senses”. These could be attack speed or vision, although it’s not explicitly stated as of yet.

Defensive Stance

Defensive Stance gives Blade a way to protect himself. When activated, Blade plants his sword in front of him and blocks frontal damage. In practice, this reduces (but does not completely cancel) incoming shots and abilities from ahead. It’s useful for surviving short bursts of enemy fire when diving in or retreating. Casual players can press it reflexively during 1v1 sword fights or when under fire to mitigate damage. Competitive players can time it for key moments like absorbing a powerful attack or tanking objectives. Defensive Stance has a cooldown, so it can’t be held for long periods.

Ultimate

Blade’s Ultimate is an AoE charge called New Moon (rumored name). When ready, he unsheathes his sword, builds some power, and dashes forward in a straight line. As he charges, he unleashes multiple spinning sword strikes behind him. Any enemies in the path take heavy area damage, which makes his Ultimate versatile. You can initiate by rushing into a group of foes, or you can use it to escape through enemies while still dealing damage.

For casual players, Blade’s Ultimate is a spectacular way to charge into the enemy team and tear through them. However, in competitive play, you’ll need to use it carefully. Make sure to use it when you can safely channel and either commit to a fight or clean up after one. Its long range and damage make it deadly in cramped fights, but it has a noticeable wind-up, so enemies can react with ease.

It’s best to activate this when you have a clear moment and can either start a fight strong or help clear out the remaining enemies. Given its cooldown, it’s best reserved for turning the tide of a battle or guaranteeing kills on retreating targets.
