CS2 Premier Season 3 introduces trade protected items

CS2 Premier Season 3 introduces trade protected items

Counter-Strike 2 is easily one of the most competitive and popular FPS titles. However, unlike other games, including Valorant, Valve doesn’t release new content and seasons nearly as fast as other games. It’s because of this that the entire community is raving about the new Premier season three.

CS2 Premier Season 3 [1] is bringing a slew of new content, including gameplay adjustments and a new map returning in the active map pool. However, the biggest surprise is the addition of trade protected items, which aim to ensure the game’s economy is safer than ever.

Here’s everything in CS2 Premier season 3, including every change and what trade protected items are.

What’s new in CS2 Premier season 3?

The biggest addition in CS2 Premier Season 3 is the addition of Overpass in the active duty pool. Created exclusively for CS:GO and then tweaked to make it more viable for CS2, this map was removed from CS2’s active duty map pool back on April 26, 2024. This means it’s returning after over a year, giving new and old players a reason to jump back into the game. Overpass replaces Anubis to come to the active map pool.

This isn’t all, as the new season has also made some gameplay adjustments. The biggest adjustment is easily the fact that incendiary grenades now spread faster, creating effective anti-rush zones. Additionally, the MP9’s spray pattern is now harder to control, and jumping accuracy has been significantly reduced. If that wasn’t enough, CT economy changed so CTs earn a shared reward for every T eliminated each round. It doesn’t matter if the team wins or loses.

What are trade protected items in CS2?

Trade Protected items [2] are a new security feature in Counter-Strike 2 designed to help players recover their inventory in case of account compromise. Whenever a trade of a skin or other item is completed in CS2, the items involved are immediately usable in-game, but for the next seven days, they are placed in a Trade Protected state. During this time, these items cannot be modified, consumed, or retraded. The purpose of this window is to give players a chance to reverse trades if their account is accessed by someone else.

If your account is hijacked by malware or a phishing scam, Trade Protection gives you a safety net. You can visit your Steam Trade History and choose to roll back any transactions involving Trade Protected items made within the last seven days. Once this reversal is done, all involved items are returned to their previous owners. This feature only applies to Counter-Strike 2 items, and trades that were completed before this system was introduced cannot be undone.

All Trade Protected items are clearly labeled in your Steam Inventory with a unique yellow shield icon. It’s not possible to trade a protected item with something from another game that does not support this system.

Once you reverse a trade, your account will receive a 30-day restriction from both trading and using the Steam Community Market. This cooldown is meant to prevent further damage and to give players time to secure their accounts. Steam Support cannot lift this restriction, so it’s important to be sure before confirming any reversals.
