Counter-Strike 2 may have launched with a bunch of controversies, but the game is finally in a good enough spot now to ensure Valve can release useful updates. Of course, keeping the map pool fresh is the developer’s priority, as shown by the changes in the latest update.
CS2’s latest update saw the game’s map pool change. In addition to two new maps from the community being part of the official competitive, casual, and deathmatch rotations, a handful of maps have also been removed from the rotation.
Here’s everything to know about the map pool changes in the latest Counter-Strike 2 [1]update.
CS2 adds two new maps: Palacio and Golden
Palacio and Golden, two maps from the community, are now officially part of the Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch rotations. Their inclusion gives players fresh environments to explore across the game’s most widely played playlists, offering visual variety and new tactical challenges.
Palacio is a bomb-defusal map designed around the architecture of a giant European palace. Its structure encourages players to fight over wide courtyards while navigating tight interior hallways and elevated vantage points. The map balances long-range rifle duels and close-range skirmishes, rewarding teams who can adapt quickly between open and confined spaces.
Golden, by contrast, is a more compact map set in a Scandinavian-inspired town built along a waterfront. Its design emphasizes street-level encounters and fights through narrow alleys and buildings, with one bomb site positioned near a harbor and the other indoors. The mix of open sightlines and choke points creates constant opportunities for crossfires and ambushes.
Palacio and Golden’s arrival broadens the strategic variety of ranked matches for the competitive community of CS2. The maps provide a quicker method for Casual or Deathmatch players to become familiar with sightlines, timing, and map flow without worrying about ranking.
Wingman expands with Rooftop and Transit
The smaller-scale Wingman mode also benefits from this update, gaining two new community maps, Rooftop and Transit. With their arrival, 2v2 players get a significant refresh to the mode’s map pool.
Rooftop sets its action high above the skyline on the top floor of a corporate skyscraper. The map is compact but layered vertically, with the single bomb site in a rooftop garden. Gameplay here leans heavily on quick, decisive engagements, as there’s little room for hesitation due to the map’s small size. In Wingman, where rounds are short and every duel is crucial, Rooftop’s design pushes teams to act fast and adapt quickly.
Transit provides a different experience from Rooftop, taking place along a city street in Vietnam. The map incorporates a central moving train that passes through twice during each round. This unique mechanic alters the rhythm of matches, sometimes acting as a shield to block sightlines and occasionally creating opportunities for flanks and surprise pushes. This dynamic element sets Transit apart from most traditional CS2 maps, making it a standout addition to Wingman.

Jura, Grail, Dogtown, and Brewery removed
Alongside the reveal of the new additions, Valve has cycled out four community maps. Jura, Grail, Downtown, and Brewery are no longer part of any matchmaking mode.
Jura and Grail have been featured in Competitive and Casual playlists. Jura brought players to a setting inspired by castle ruins, offering open outdoor areas and vertical sightlines that rewarded long-range engagements. Grail was more experimental, built around a miniature golf theme with a playful aesthetic that contrasted with Counter-Strike’s more grounded settings. While both maps offered variety, they have now been removed to make way for Palacio and Golden.
Dogtown and Brewery were part of the Wingman rotation. Dogtown provided an urban amusement-park-inspired battlefield, combining open spaces with decaying industrial structures. On the other hand, Brewery was set inside a traditional brew house, offering a more claustrophobic design built around industrial equipment and storage halls. Both maps added character to Wingman. However, the maps have been removed from the pool as Rooftop and Transit take their place.
Valve’s choice to replace four maps with four newcomers shows a clear effort to keep the map pool manageable while continuing to ensure that the game feels fresh. The update ensures the overall map pool doesn’t feel cluttered while providing players with new battlegrounds to learn.
