Path of Exile 2 has been popping off despite being in its early access phase. With so much content consistently coming to the game, players have had their plates full. Regardless, a lot of players have completed everything currently available and are waiting for an update to bring a slew of new content.
While it was revealed that Path of Exile 2’s production had delayed a major update for the first Path of Exile, that doesn’t mean the sequel will suffer. A new thread post gave fans of the game new information about the next big Path of Exile 2 update, including what it will include and some balance changes players can expect.
Here’s what to know about the next big Path of Exile 2 update.
State of early access and PoE 2 update 0.2
Path of Exile 2 has been in Early Access for over 2 months, and Grinding Gear Games (GGG) has shared an update [1] on their progress and plans for the game. Although the release date for update 0.2.0 is unknown, the developers have shared areas they're trying to improve.
Despite the early access having eight patches, GGG acknowledges that numerous aspects still need work. Their latest update focuses on refining gameplay mechanics and improving balance and endgame content.
Quality of life improvements
The developers are trying to refine some of the most frustrating elements of gameplay. Areas they're focusing on include teleportation mechanics, simplifying the ability to respec character builds, and improving ally revival in multiplayer.
Although the developers have progressed in the previous patches, GGG plans to improve the player experience further. More quality-of-life changes might work on inventory management, crafting mechanics, and UI responsiveness to make the gameplay experience smoother.
Path of Exile 2 endgame and map rework
Endgame content is a focus for the next major update. GGG has identified two endgame-related issues they're working on: progression balance and the need for more high-level rewards. The team is working on rebalancing maps, fixing difficulty levels, and including more rewarding content to keep player engagement high.
Map improvements will be a part of update 0.2.0 as they better the variety and pace of multiple areas. They aim to introduce more distinct encounters and rare loot opportunities to ensure players feel rewarded for engaging in Path of Exile 2's endgame.
Balance changes and build diversity
Balancing player skills and builds is the biggest difficulty GGG is facing. The developers acknowledge that a few skills are too powerful while others are weak. GGG plans to buff weaker abilities and increase build options but nerfs are more likely.
Build diversity will improve naturally as more content is released, including new classes that haven't been introduced yet as the game gets updates. They're working on rebalancing and enemy difficulty and item drops to make it a challenge for everyone.
