League of Legends is easily one of the most popular free-to-play games right now, and with the conclusion of Arcane still fresh in the minds of so many worldwide fans, now is the perfect time to release a big patch. It seems Riot Games had the same idea, as fans now have information on what they can expect from the next big upcoming patch.
Today, we’re here to go through everything players need to know about the upcoming League of Legends patch 14.24. This includes all of the map changes, boss battles, and reworks players can expect. Naturally, we’ll also answer questions like when the patch is expected to come out and whether it’ll be the last patch of the year.
So, without any further ado, here’s everything coming to League of Legends patch 14.24.
Map Changes and a new boss battle
The Season of Noxus shakes up the Summoner's Rift [1]by adding new terrain, objectives, and mechanics that switch up the gameplay. At the heart is Atakhan, Bringer of Ruin, who’s a boss that spawns after 20 minutes determined by whichever team has the most deaths or damage by 14 minutes. Atakhan changes the map’s layout and drops Blood Roses which grant power buffs and XP to your team.
In high-kill games, Atakhan appears as Ruinous Atakhan and rewards teams with Bloody Petals for buffs, while in slower games, Voracious Atakhan gives the False Life buff which lets the player avoid death through Stasis and teleport back to base. The killer earns extra gold and Bloody Petals, while takedowns give your team bonus gold. These changes are made to reward teamwork and objective control.
Objective timers, turrets, and teleport reworks
The new Patch 14.24 adds tons of updates to the mechanics related to objectives, turrets, and teleporting. Objective timers now have better pacing, with Rift Heral at 16 minutes, Atakhan at 20, and Baron Nashor at 25. Both of Atakhan’s forms (Ruinous and Voracious) adapt to the game and reward aggressive or calculated play while introducing dynamic terrain changes and permanent buffs with Blood Roses.
Turrets now have reduced fortification damage reduction (85% to 50%) which encourages early aggression and lane pushes. Teleport now has a shorter channel time (3 seconds) and functions as a dash to the target location. It also has lower cooldowns and doesn't need Unleashed status to target minions and wards which promotes faster rotations and dynamic strategies.

Earning feats and boot upgrades
Patch 14.24 introduces a new system called Feats of Strength, which will heavily change how early-game rewards work. Teams that complete two of three tasks (First Blood, First Tower, slaying three Epic Monsters) unlock powerful boot upgrades once they’ve bought two legendary items. These boost your stats and unique passives like increased tenacity, movement speed, or shields after damage, creating a system that rewards early dominance with excellent perks.
Boot upgrades also bring some fresh utility. Tanks can now opt for Armored Advance with damage reduction and shields, while Chainlaced Crushers boost magic damage resilience with shields and tenacity. If you’re dealing damage, you’ll benefit from Gunmetal Greaves for attack speed and mobility bursts, or Spellslinger’s Shoes for extra impact. These changes will make mid and late-game plays better.
Balancing and champion buffs
Cassiopeia: She now has much better mobility which is tied to the new Feats of Strength mechanic. Her passive movement speed now scales higher than before (from 4-72 to 6-108) which gives her a positioning advantage and chase-down potential.
Master Yi: Master Yi’s Alpha Strike gets even sharper, with critical damage scaling increased to 56.25% from 35%. This makes his burst potential in fights a lot more formidable, meaning he’ll be swifter in taking enemies out.
Rell: Rell gets a much-needed base health bump that boosts her survivability. Her passive resist-steal per stack is now stronger (from 2% to 3%). Combined with increased shielding on her W: Ferromancy - Crash Down, Rell will be even sturdier as a frontline champion.
Viktor: Victor’s changes take cues from Arcane which enhances his lore while keeping his core mechanics.
Q: Siphon Power now grants a stronger base shield.
W: Gravity Field slows more in the early game for better zoning control.
R: Arcane Storm evolves into a true powerhouse, growing in size and duration with each kill it secures (up to six stacks).
New items and rune updates
Items and runes get major updates which reshapes the gameplay. An interesting new item is Bloodletter’s Curse [2]for mages, which gives 55 AP, 350 HP, and 10 Ability Haste. While the item previously was an Arena exclusive, the same won’t be true soon. Its passive Surge now grants stacking magic penetration with magic damage which makes it good for scaling damage in extended fights.
Items like Aegis of the Legion and Warmog’s Armor get minor tweaks, mainly for better cost-effectiveness. Warmog’s Armor has a 12% increased HP with slightly reduced regen.
Coming to runes, the Sorcery tree has Nullifying Orb replaced with Axiom Arcanist, boosting ultimate cooldowns and power after takedowns. Domination runes replace vision-based options like Ghost Poro with new ones like Sixth Sense. Conqueror in the Precision tree now stacks faster which helps champions focused on sustained damage.
Skins and cosmetics
Patch 14.24 adds a ton of Arcane-themed [3] skins that fans of the show will love. Viktor, who's a major character in Arcane, gets a rework that aligns closer to the show. Even his abilities like Siphone Power and Gravity Field get tweaks, and his ultimate, Arcane Storm, now grows in size and duration with every kill.
Finally, the patch also introduces a new gacha system called the Sanctum, through which players can unlock limited-edition skins including Arcane-themed ones. Players can roll for a chance to get rare skins which adds a sense of exclusiveness to skin collections.
FAQs
When will League of Legends patch 14.24 come out?
League of Legends patch 14.24 is scheduled to release December 11, 2024. It’s highly unlikely that this date will change at all, as Riot Games usually has updates and patches ready weeks before they’re scheduled to come out.
Will patch 14.24 be the last patch of 2024?
It’s currently unknown whether League of Legends patch 14.24 will be the last patch of the year. However, Riot Games is gearing up to release a big update with the upcoming season and its changes, so it would make sense for the company to want to allocate more resources to that.
