CS:GO HUD Disappeared (Fixed)

csgo-hud-disappeared-fixed

CS:GO is one of the hottest FPS games out there, especially since it’s free to play. However, despite how popular it is and the fact that it has Valve’s full backing, there are certain glitches and bugs that slip past their team, such as the one that makes our entire HUD disappear.

To fix the CS:GO HUD disappearing glitch, the best thing to do is to usually restart the game. However, if it still isn’t fixed then you’ll have to open the developer console by first enabling it from the CS:GO settings menu, then typing cl_showloadout 1 and pressing enter.

We’ll be going in depth on what exactly this bug does to your gaming experience, as well as the two tried and tested methods for fixing it for good.

What Does the HUD Disappearing Glitch Do

As the name suggests, the HUD disappearing glitch makes it so that when you load into a game, you aren’t able to see anything besides your gun. You’re able to move your character around find, but that’s it.

There’s no crosshair on the screen, no chat, no mini map, no nothing. Despite this glitch still allowing players to freely move, aim, and shoot, not only is having no HUD infuriating but it’s also a huge disadvantage in a game like CS:GO.

How to Fix the HUD Disappearing Glitch

As mentioned above, there are two methods that usually work for players that experience this glitch, with the first one being extremely easy and straight forward, but the second one requiring you to follow some steps

Method #1: Restart the Game

Yes, the first and most common way of making the disappearing HUD glitch go away for good is to simply restart your CS:GO application. The most common reason for this glitch appearing is a disruption or something similar happening when loading into a game.

Because of this, simply restarting the game and having everything load again should most likely reset whatever problem was causing the HUD to not load. However, if it doesn’t work, you’ll have to move on to the second method.

Method #2: Using the Developer Console

Oftentimes when players encounter this glitch, simply restarting the application or device isn’t enough. Instead, they have to go to the developer console to manually toggle the CS:GO HUD.

Before you use the developer console for yourself, however, it’s important that you first enable it from the in game settings. To do so:

  1. Launch the CS:GO application/game.
  2. Look for and then click on the settings option.
  3. Head to the Game menu of the settings from the top heading.
  4. In the first section, locate the ‘enable the developer console’ setting.
  5. Click on the dropdown option, then select ‘Yes’.

After enabling the developer console, entering commands should be a piece of cake. All you have to do is

  1. First, load into a server or match (It’s recommended you just load into a custom game to avoid having to be afk for a while in an actual match.)
  2. Press the ~ key on your keyboard, and the developer console will open up.
  3. Now, there are two commands that you have to try. The first is ‘cl_showloadout 1’, which usually works. In the unlikely scenario that it doesn’t work, try copying and pasting the command ‘cl_drawhud 1’
  4. After entering your desired command, either tap the ‘enter’ key or click the ‘submit’ option at the bottom right

As soon as you hit enter and the command registers, you should be able to see the HUD again.
