Valorant on consoles is almost out, but some players might have noticed their favorite content creators and streamers are already playing it. Don’t worry, as that’s normal because Valorant’s console versions are currently in their beta phase, and we’re here to help you learn how you can jump on the hype train.
Today, we’re here to go through everything you need to know about playing Valorant on consoles. This includes what the current beta features are and how the regular player can play the game on consoles by registering for the beta. We’ll also clear up the question of how long the beta will last.
So, without further ado, here’s how you can play Valorant on consoles.
What are the Beta Features?
The beta comes with a bunch of cool features and ways to level up. Right from the start, you’ll have a mix of new and classic maps to play on, giving a diverse gaming experience. Initially, only non-competitive modes will be available, and once everyone’s settled in, they’ll roll out the competitive queues.
The great part about the beta is that the progress and other stuff in your account will be shared across PC and Console. This means that unlocked agents and weapon skins will be accessible on both platforms, so you won't miss out on anything. The only exception will be your rank and MMR, which will be separate for both platforms, ensuring fair play.
They’ve also enabled crossplay between Xbox and PlayStation, meaning players of either platform can go up against each other. PC is excluded from this, probably to ensure that the game remains fair. One bummer is that there’s no support for a keyboard, mouse, or any third-party controllers. Players can only play using the console controller, and failing to do so might result in you getting booted.
How to Play Valorant on Console
Now that you know the need-to-know stuff about playing Valorant on consoles, here's how you can play the game on your PS5 or Xbox.
Eligibility Criteria for the Console Beta
You need to meet a few requirements to join the limited beta. Here’s the scoop: first off, you need to be in the NA, EU, or JP regions. The beta isn’t available everywhere, and as of now, Riot hasn't confirmed whether it’ll be extended to other regions. The second requirement is that you need either an Xbox Series X/S or a PlayStation 5, as these are the consoles they’ve chosen to test it on. Also, make sure your Valorant account is in good shape. This means no bans or suspensions, or you are out of luck.
Sign-Up Process
After you’ve made sure you meet the eligibility criteria, there are 2 ways to get an invite. The first one is pretty straightforward, just head to Valorant’s official beta site, and sign up. A heads up though, signing up doesn't necessarily guarantee a spot, since the invites are pretty selective and picky.
The second way to get in is to have a friend, who’s already been invited for the beta, send you a referral link. Riot’s added a feature where a person can share a referral link with up to 5 more people, allowing them to invite their friends. Have a friend send you a link, simply follow the sign-up steps, and you’re good to go. Keep in mind, that referred players can't receive additional invites, and the referral links must be used quickly as spots are tight.
Redeeming the Beta Key & Reporting Bugs
Once you’ve been selected for the beta, you’ll be given a key that will help you get in. Head over to the official Xbox or PlayStation website and follow the instructions there to redeem it. In case something happens and you lose your code, hit up Riot Player Support and they’ll work it out.
Since this is a beta, it's given that there will be some bugs in the game. If you’ve spotted a bug, use the in-game QR code to submit a ticket. Include all the details about the bug which will help them fix it pronto.

FAQs
How long will the Beta last?
The beta kicked off on June 14th, and as of now, there's no end date. It's safe to say it’ll remain active until Riot Games is confident that the game is fully optimized for console play, and they’ve promised to give us a heads-up when they’ve decided to wrap it up. For now, just keep an eye on their official website and social handles for any further updates.
