Counter-Strike 2 may be one of the most popular games of all time, especially in the FPS space, but it receives a shockingly low number of updates. A lot of players wait for Valve to give details about any upcoming updates, though the company has a habit of shadowdropping them to surprise fans. This keeps expectations in check while also having the potential to pleasantly surprise fans who didn’t expect anything.
The newest update for the game dropped on April 1, 2025 [1]. As expected, no one saw the update coming, though the good thing is that it brought multiple additions to the game. These additions include fresh weapon collections, updates to the Armory, and significant map changes to Inferno and Train.
While minor, the first change the update brought was to the weekly care package. Fans can expect the following changes the next time they open one of these packages:
Added three new weapon collections: Ascent, Boreal, and Radiant.
Removed four collections: Bank, Italy, Lake, and the original Train collection.
Keeping the content addition going, the Armory also received a handful of new items players can acquire. With CS2’s booming in-game economy, we’re certain this change will excite fans a lot.

Map updates
Content additions weren’t the only features included in the CS2 update. The Inferno and Train maps also saw a handful of updates, from bug changes to some tweaks that ensure the maps remain more competitive and fair for players.
Inferno
Banana adjusted to be closer in size to the CS:GO version.
Background simplifications for T ramp, Pit, and Bombsite B to improve visibility.
Removed steps on the sides of the Arch hallway.
Fixed a pixel gap at Coffin.
Adjusted crates on steps leading to the balcony to ensure smoother movement.
Various prop adjustments throughout the map.
Improved player and grenade collision for smoother gameplay.
Train
Fixed a bug where player shadows were visible through windows above A main.
Patched map holes that previously caused visual inconsistencies.
Simplified wall designs at multiple locations, including the back wall near Z door, the background near upper B entrance, and the brick wall by Ivy
Shortened the overhead roof rail at A site, making it easier to throw utility.
Replaced the see-through grating on the Z door catwalk with a solid surface.
Replaced see-through fences at the top of Ivy with a solid version.
Fixed grenade collision issues on the upper B arch.
