Valorant: New Cosmetic Type "Flex" Coming

Riot Games is introducing a brand-new cosmetic[1] type in Valorant, called “Flex”. This new addition is designed to provide players with a fun way to express themselves during matches, similar to how sprays work. Unlike sprays, Flexes allow for more interaction and movement, adding another layer of creativity to Valorant’s growing cosmetic options.
The Flex feature can be accessed using the spray wheel. By holding down T in-game, players can bring up their Flex, which appears in their hand, similar to how sprays are applied on walls. Flexes come with basic interactive functions such as animations and sound effects, making them stand out from existing cosmetic types.
How Do Flexes Work?
Once equipped, Flexes can be activated mid-game by holding down the T key. The default Flex, available to all players for free, shows the agent the player is using along with their in-game name. If the player is in streamer mode, it will simply display “Me” instead of their actual name.
By left-clicking, players can switch the display to their player card and title. If no title is equipped, it defaults to “Valorant”. Additionally, spamming the left click results in a satisfying clicking sound and a quick spin animation. While using the Flex, players move slightly slower than they would with a knife equipped, though they can still move around the map.
How to Equip Flexes
Players can equip Flexes through the Expressions section in the locker, located in the bottom-right corner of the Collection tab. In this menu, players can find two tabs—one for sprays and a new one for Flexes. Currently, there are two Flex options available:
Stat-com: The default Flex, showing agent and player details, which is free for everyone.
Stellar Dendrite: A snowflake-themed Flex, unlockable at tier 37 of the battle pass[2].
Stellar Dendrite offers a neat twisting animation when inspected. By spamming the left click, players can spin it faster, adding more flair to its use. Riot has also added an inspection feature, allowing players to see their equipped Flex up close and interact with it by spinning or flipping it around.

Why Flexes Are a Fun Addition
Despite some initial skepticism from the community, many players have found Flexes to be a fun and creative cosmetic type. They add another layer of personality to gameplay without affecting balance or performance.
It’s important to note that the development of cosmetics like Flexes is handled by a separate team from those working on core gameplay features, such as anti-cheat systems and replay functionality. As a result, Flexes don’t take resources away from other areas of development.
For players who enjoy collecting cosmetics and showing off their personality in-game, Flexes provide a fresh and engaging way to interact during matches. With the initial launch featuring only two Flexes, it’s likely Riot will expand the lineup in future updates.
The introduction of Flexes in Valorant is an exciting new way for players to express themselves. With interactive animations, fun sound effects, and customization options, Flexes are set to become a popular addition among players. Whether you’re showing off your agent’s details or unlocking new designs through the battle pass, there’s plenty to look forward to with this new cosmetic type.
