Fighting games have a dedicated and huge fanbase. Whether it be Teken or the popular Street Fighters, gaming tournaments, and events are typically revolved around these high-skill games. However, one thing no one expected was to see a game like Dota 2 get a Street Fighter-style mode.
Today, we’re here to go through everything about the new Dota 2 fighting game mode. This includes what this mode is called, the characters players can use, and how players can win their fights. Naturally, we’ll answer some other frequently asked questions like the rewards for playing this mode and whether players can fight against friends.
So, without further ado, here’s everything to know about Dota 2’s Street Fighter-style game mode.
What is Dota 2’s Street Fighter mode called?
For the third act of the Crownfall event of Dota 2, the game introduces a new Street Fighter-like mode called Sleet Fighter, where players can compete with other players. The mode works like a fighting game, where two combat each other in one-on-one battles similar to other fighting games.
What characters can you play in the Sleet Fighter mode?
Players can play five different characters from Dota 2 in the Sleet Fighter mode, each with unique combos and special moves. The five usable characters in the game mode are Tusk, Bristleback, Shendelzare, Dawnbreaker, and Marci. The list of champions available is versatile, so fans of the game and those who want to try the mode out might be surprised by the amount of variance between characters and how they play.
How to Win in Sleet Fighter?
Players can win in Sleet Fighter by using their attacks, combos, blocks, and dodges to reduce their opponent’s health bar til the end. The mode is a best of three, so players can achieve victory in the mode by winning two rounds. If an enemy wins one round, the player still has enough time to make a comeback and win the match.
Like other fighting games, the key to winning matches is understanding the character the player is using and what the opponent is playing. Try to figure out the weaknesses and strengths of every playable champion in the mode and exploit them as much as possible. Also, learn proper movement and defense because defending in fighting games is as essential as attacking.
Can you fight against friends in Sleet Fighter?
Yes, the mode allows players to compete against their friends online and locally. To fight against friends, go to Sleet Fighter and select Multiplayer at the top. Over there, click on the Challenge button and choose between online friends or multiplayer. To play against online friends, players can invite people from their Steam friends list.
If the player opts to play Local Multiplayer, they can play against a friend using the same device. The second player can use a plugged-in controller to play or use the number pad keys to move around and use moves.
What rewards do players get for achieving high scores on Sleet Fighter?
Players who progress through the Story Mode of Sleet Fighter will earn points per every win. In the Story Mode, the chosen character will go against the other playable characters and a counterpart at the end.
When players earn points by getting wins, they will get bonuses. The game measures points based on the amount of health left after winning a match, with the most points awarded to those who beat the enemy without getting hit. Here’s a list of every award in the game:
7,000 points: One random Overworld map token
21,000 points: One random Overworld map token and a Pixel Tusk Showcase Decoration
35,000 points: Three random Overworld map tokens
Players can play the Story Mode as much as they want, so they can shoot for a high score if they don’t do it in the first run.
