CS2 Failed to Reach any Official Servers (Fixed)

CS2 Failed to Reach any Official Servers (Fixed)

Picture this. You sit down to play some good old CS2 when suddenly you realize you're getting an error instead of being able to connect to the servers. To be more specific, you're getting an error that states the game failed to reach any official servers. Naturally, this would mean that you won't be able to play CS2 with your friends, right? Well, not necessarily.

Now, there are a couple of fixes that might potentially work if you find yourself not being able to reach any official servers. The first thing you need to do is disable any firewall you might have, especially Cloudflare. If this doesn't work, you might need to make a customized shortcut. Of course, fixes like uninstalling and reinstalling the game as well as ensuring your internet is working properly are also common fixes.

We'll be going through every potential fix for when your CS2 fails to reach any official servers. Worry not as by the end of the article you'll be able to play with your friends without any issues.

#1: Ensure Your Internet is Working Properly

Hey, better to get the basic fixes out of the way first before you move on to the more technical ones, right? The most common culprit for your CS2 not being able to reach any official servers is that the player's internet is extremely unstable. This instability can cause various issues such as bots automatically getting kicked or an error when buying keys.

Start by verifying if you can access other online services and websites without any issues. Open a web browser and try loading a few different websites to see if they load properly and quickly. If you notice any connectivity problems in general, it might be worth troubleshooting your network or contacting your internet service provider for assistance.

A stable and reliable internet connection is crucial for online gaming, and any interruptions or issues can hinder your ability to connect to CS2 servers. It's possible that the problem lies outside of the game itself, such as a temporary outage or network congestion in your area. By ruling out potential network issues, you can focus on resolving the problem specifically related to CS:GO.

#2: Disable Your Firewalls

The second most common culprit for getting this specific error when trying to connect to official servers is your firewall or VPN is messing with the game. Some firewalls, especially Cloudflare, seem to recognize the official Steam servers as being a threat and therefore, they stop the connection from happening.

Therefore, we recommend you disable whatever firewall you have enabled to see if that fixes the issue. To do so:

  1. Expand the bottom right menu
  2. Right click on the firewall icon
  3. Disable it

Of course, different firewalls might be disabled in different ways, so feel free to web search how to disable your specific firewall.

Naturally, if you still aren't able to connect to official Steam servers then you can simply enable the firewall again.

#3: Make a Custom Shortcut

Moving on, one more way of potentially being able to connect to the official CS2 servers is by making a customized Steam shortcut. Now, this might sound a little technical so be sure to follow it closely.

  1. First, you want to locate the Steam exe file in your file explorer
  2. Then, you want to right click on it and create a shortcut.
  3. Right click on the newly created Steam shortcut, and click on 'properties'
  4. After the destination, you want to add -tcp
  5. With this done, simply close Steam (completely from the task manager) and then launch it again by using this customized shortcut. Hopefully, you won't have any issues connecting to the official servers now.

Don't worry, as soon as the fix works for you the first time, you won't have to use this shortcut ever again.

#4: Verify Game Files

One common cause for CS2 failing to connect to official servers is corrupted or missing game files. When these files are damaged or incomplete, it can disrupt the game's ability to establish a stable connection. Luckily, Steam provides a convenient feature called "Verify Integrity of Game Files" that can help resolve this issue.

To verify the integrity of your CS2 game files, you need to access the properties of the game in your Steam library. Right-click on CS2 and select "Properties" from the drop-down menu. In the properties window, navigate to the "Local Files" tab, where you will find the option to "Verify Integrity of Game Files." Click on this button, and Steam will initiate a scan of your game files.

If the verification process detects any missing or corrupted files, it's essential to allow Steam to complete the download and replacement. Interrupting this process or canceling it prematurely may result in continued connection issues. Once the verification and file replacement are complete, launch CS2 again and check if the problem persists.

#5: Change Your DNS Server

Sometimes, the default DNS server provided by your internet service provider can be slow or unreliable, leading to connectivity issues in CS2. Changing your DNS server to a more reliable option, such as Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1), can help resolve the problem and get you back in the game.

To change your DNS server, you need to access your computer's network settings. To be more specific, you have to:

  1. Open the Control Panel from the Start menu or by searching for it.
  2. In the Control Panel, select "Network and Internet" and then "Network and Sharing Center."
  3. On the left side of the window, click on "Change adapter settings."
  4. Right-click on your active network connection and select "Properties."
  5. In the properties window, scroll down and select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click on "Properties."
  6. In the new window, select the option "Use the following DNS server addresses."
  7. Enter the preferred DNS server and alternate DNS server addresses. For example, if you choose Google DNS, enter 8.8.8.8 as the preferred DNS server and 8.8.4.4 as the alternate DNS server.
  8. Click "OK" to save the changes.

With the changes saved, you now have to launch CS2 again and hopefully this time you'll be able to connect to the official servers.

#6: Contact Steam Support

If you've everything so far AND you're certain the Steam servers aren't down either, then the only thing left to do is to contact Steam support. When contacting Steam Support, you can typically reach them through the Steam/Valve website or the Steam client itself. Look for the "Support" or "Help" section, where you will find options to submit a support ticket or access their knowledge base for self-help resources.

When submitting a support ticket, be clear and concise in describing your issue. Include any relevant error messages or codes that you have encountered while trying to connect to the official servers. The more information you provide, the quicker and more accurately Steam Support will be able to diagnose and address your problem.

Keep in mind that you will most likely have to wait a good while before anyone from Steam support gets back to you. Therefore, be sure to be patient and keep an eye on your email.
