When CS:GO players get tired of playing against cheaters, they instead turn to playing FACEIT regulated tournaments and matches. Not only are the chances of coming across cheaters much less than when playing in regular CS:GO servers, but it’s also possible to compete for rare items that can be sold for actual money.
However, to ensure the fairness and legitimacy of the players involved, there are certain requirements you need to meet if you want to connect your CS:GO game ID to your FACEIT account, and one of them is related to how much play time you have with that ID.
To help you with setting up your FACEIT account, we’re here to tell you all you need to know about the requirements your Steam account has to meet, which include the minimum playtime you need.
The first requirement you need to meet is that your Steam account must have a play time of at least 25 hours. Although it used to be 20 hours, it has since then been increased to ensure the players who registered knew how to play the game enough to compete with professionals.
If you’re trying to connect a smurf of yours and don’t have enough play time yet but don’t want to spend 25 hours playing matches, we have good news. FACEIT recognizes the total time that shows up on your Steam account, and that means it isn’t necessary for you to spend 25 hours in matches.
Instead, you could just leave the application open on the main menu, and Steam will count it towards your total play time. If you aren’t a smurf, however, then we don’t recommend this at all.
Although you need only 25 hours to create your account, we recommend you play a little bit more, as the average skill level of players in FACEIT is much higher.
Of course, the play time isn’t the only requirement FACEIT has set for players. On the contrary, there are a handful of other requirements that your Steam account has to meet before you could link with your FACEIT account.
The first and perhaps most obvious requirement is that the Steam account must have played CS:GO in a manner that can be publicly proven. What this means is that if your game privacy settings are set to private or friends only, then you’ll get the following error when trying to link your Steam account:
IT LOOKS LIKE THE PROFILE YOU ARE CONNECTING TO DOESN'T HAVE THE GAME OR YOUR GAME PRIVACY SETTINGS ARE NOT PUBLIC.
To fix this, all you have to do is
Aside from this, all you have to keep in mind is that one Steam account can only be linked to a single FACEIT account and vice versa. If you try to connect your steam account to another FACEIT account, or you try to link another Steam account to a single FACEIT account then you’ll get an error for each case.
