Valorant emphasizes personalization a lot thanks to the fact that personal comfort is extremely important for players wanting to ensure nothing gets in the way of them and their gameplay. However, what can players do when their Valorant settings keep resetting every time they open the game?
Today, we’re here to tell you how you can fix the issue of your Valorant settings continuously resetting despite you not doing anything. To do this, we’re going through two individual methods that can be utilized, and at least one of them is sure to help you fix this annoying issue so you can get back to climbing the ranks.
So, without further ado, here’s how you can fix the issue of your Valorant settings resetting. If you want to personalize your settings even more it might be a good idea to hire a professional-level coach from Eloking. You can even use the code “BoostToday” for a banger 20% discount.
Valorant settings resetting issue
Every Valorant player can imagine the hassle of going through the tiresome process of making their custom settings, so it's understandable why this has been frustrating people for a while now. After all, who wants to return to the game only to find out all their precious keybinds have been reset?
As of now, it hasn't been officially fixed, let alone addressed by Riot, and from what we’ve seen, this issue has been present in the game for quite some time.
The glitch affects the player keybinds and the crosshair settings, with some players claiming it's affected their sensitivity too. Once you close the game, an older version of the config on Riot’s servers automatically overwrites your present settings, kinda rendering all your hard work useless.
Players have tried hitting up Valorant support for potential solutions, but from what we've seen, they've been met with cookie-cutter bot responses that don't seem to help. That’s not to say there isn't a solution, as players have found a couple of ways to fix this permanently.
How to fix the resetting issue?
We’ll be discussing both methods here, so just in case the first one doesn't work out, you can try the second one.
Method 1
Firstly, go to C:Users%USERPROFILE%AppDataLocalVALORANTSavedConfig. While you are doing this, make sure the client is closed, as not closing it while you're tampering with the game files could cause hiccups.
Once you are in the folder, delete everything in it. After that, open up the client again. This should pop[ up a few new files in that same folder, which you'll need to delete again. Now, log in to the game, and delete the files for the third and final time. After that, hop into a custom game and play for a while, then close the game and log out.
This method revolves around manually resetting the game’s configuration files and helps sidestep the glitch that causes your settings to do a vanishing act every time you restart. It's a bit of a hassle, but it gets the job done.
Method 2
Here's the second workaround you can try. In the first step, hit the minus icons and delete the agent key bind profiles. Next up, click on the “Reset to game defaults” button for the default key bind profile. Now, optionally you can delete the “BackupKeybinds” file by going into C:drive UsersYourPCnameAppDataLocalValorantSavedConfig. Find that folder with the crazy hash digit > WindowsClient.
Finally, fire up your game, and enter all your key binds via the Default profile list. Afterward, log out just to make sure you let Riot’s servers sync your settings properly. Once you’re back in the game, set the individual agent keybinds at once, and that’s pretty much it. Overall, it's a bit more involved than the first method as it requires you to do a thorough reset of your keybinds, but hey, sometimes you gotta get your hands dirty to fix those pesky issues.
