How does remaking work in Valorant?

How does remaking work in Valorant?

Valorant may be a competitive game, but the sad truth is that not every game is winnable. From having bad teammates to just not playing well on that specific day, you may sometimes realize that a game is just unwinnable and want to jump into another one. While forfeiting results in you losing RR, the same doesn’t apply to remaking.

Remaking in Valorant is the act of canceling a match at the start when certain conditions are met. Doing this ensures that neither team wins nor loses, which also means that neither team gains or loses any RR.

Here is how remaking works in Valorant and how you can do it when in a tight spot.

What is a Valorant remake?

A remake in Valorant is an in-game system that cancels a match and starts a new one without penalty for the remaining players if a teammate disconnects or leaves early. Riot Games implemented this feature to address situations where a team starts a match with an early disadvantage. It prevents players from being forced to play a 4v5 competitive match and suffer an unnecessary loss and RR loss.

The remake system allows a restart instead of continuing at a disadvantage if a teammate leaves at the start. It keeps competitive integrity in ranked matches. Despite the feature being available since launch, many players find the implementation unfinished and ask Riot to revise it.

How do you initiate a remake in Valorant?

A player must open the in-game chat before the end of the second round’s buy phase and type “/remake”, then press enter to start a remake vote. It triggers a voting prompt for the team.

All four connected players must vote by pressing F5 to select "Yes" or typing “/yes” in chat. The vote needs to be unanimous. If any player votes no or the timer expires, the vote will fail, and the match will continue with uneven teams.

What are the requirements for a Valorant remake?

Several conditions must be met to be eligible for a remake in Valorant. Voting cannot start before the second round to give the disconnected player time to reconnect. However, after the end of the second round, the option is no longer available.

The disconnected player must not have participated in round one. If they bought items or played that round before quitting, the remake option becomes invalid. Remakes are unavailable if the entire team is in a premade party and a player disconnects before the match starts, since this could be abused for dodging. The team has only one chance to vote, so if it fails, they cannot reattempt it.

What happens after a Valorant remake vote?

If the vote succeeds with all four remaining players agreeing, the match ends, and its effects are nullified. It doesn’t affect match history, RR, MMR, or XP for those who voted, basically erasing the game as if it never happened.

However, the disconnected player is penalized for leaving the game. Penalties include loss of ranking points and potential temporary bans from queuing if the player has made this multiple times. If the vote fails because a teammate voted against it or the timer expires, the match will continue. The team must then play with a missing player, and normal loss rules apply, including RR loss when defeated.

How does the community view the Valorant remake system?

The Valorant community has shown dissatisfaction with the current implementation of the remake system. The primary complaint is around the requirement for a unanimous vote. This usually allows trolls or uncooperative players to block a remake by voting “No,” forcing the rest of the team to play out a losing game. This has led to calls for the developers to change the requirement from all four votes to a majority, so if three players vote “Yes,” the match should be canceled.

Players have suggested extra improvements, such as adding a feature to find a new player to replace the one who disconnected. The community proposed holding a vote with two options. The first option is to remake the match, and the second is to search for a new player to join. Despite these constant requests and feedback from the community, the developers at Riot Games haven’t implemented any changes to the system. The community hopes that future updates will revise the remake feature to be more flexible and player-friendly, especially in higher lobbies where it takes a long time to find matches.
