Valorant continues to add new maps and agents to the game to ensure it stays fresh for new and old players alike. With so many maps and agents to choose from, it’s only natural that some agents will be better than others on some maps. While finding the meta for most maps is fairly easy, the same can’t be said for Sunset.
Sunset is one of the more complicated maps in Valorant. With some agents that completely fall flat and some that absolutely shine on this map, we thought we’d go through the best agents to choose if you want to make your mark on the map and hopefully lead your team to victory. Of course, we’ll also highlight some agents you should avoid unless you’re really good with them.
So, without further ado, here are the top six agents to play in Sunset. If you don’t know how to play any agent we highlight on the list, you can always hire a professional coach from Eloking to show you the ropes. What are the best agents to pick in Sunset when playing Valorant
On August 29, 2023, Riot Games added Sunset to Valorant, a map set in Los Angeles with a basic three-lane design and two bomb sites. It’s similar to Split, where the entire map has small corridors and corners everywhere. However, unlike Split, Sunset has an open mid-area.
Since Sunset has never left the competitive map rotation since its launch, it’s good to know what agents to pick when playing there. These are the best characters to play in Sunset:
Neon
Since the map is small and tight, Neon excels in it. She can use her sprinting ability to get in and out of cover and traverse the whole map with minimal effort. Her walls are excellent for making direct passages to different areas or retreating. Neon's quickness and useful utilities make her one of the best solo queue picks on Sunset too.
Raze
Raze is probably the best Duelist to play as in Sunset. She can throw grenades in small corners to fish people out while damaging them, and her area-of-effect ultimate ability is useful when attacking. Since there are no wide open spaces on the map except mid, good satchel usage allows Raze to push and retreat from places with no problem.
Cypher
Cypher is undoubtedly the most important agent to select when playing in Sunset. His trips are essential in defense, and it’s easy to set them up for cheeky places, thanks to the many angles and corners in the map. Thanks to the small lanes, Cyphers can set multiple cages to create pathways leading towards the site or retreating from an area.
KAY/O
Due to the power agents with high mobility have in Sunet, KAY/O is the perfect agent to pair with them. When attacking, KAY/O can use his knife or ultimate to prevent opponents from using their abilities, such as Sentinels like Cypher, who become useless without them. In defense, he can single-handedly prevent rushes.
Brimstone
The thing that sets Brimstone apart from other Controllers in Valorant is his three smokes, and it’s something that teams will need when playing in Sunset. His three smokes allow teams to cover all angles, including mid, to help teammates defend or push that area. Thanks to the map’s claustrophobic design, Brimstone’s Incendiary is perfect for forcing enemies to get out of a place, and his Stim Beacon is great for retaking or rushing. Not to mention that Brimstone’s ultimate can guarantee wins if played in post-plant situations.
Gekko
What makes Gekko so effective in Sunset is that he can reuse Dizzy. Since the map has easy lineups and Dizzy can flash people near the ability, it’s an awesome method to clear out areas and kill opponents, considering he can flash multiple times. Like other agents with throwables, Gekko’s Mosh Pit is an essential tool players can use to clear areas and corners. Also, his ultimate ability can catch enemies by surprise, especially in bombings with tight corridors.

FAQs
Which agents should you avoid in Sunset?
While pretty much any agent can shine on a map like Sunset if the player knows how to play them, Reyna stands out as one of the worst-performing agents on the map. Because of Sunset’s small number of corners and multiple open spaces, Reyna can struggle to find good frags.
