The best Marvel Rivals characters for ranked

The best Marvel Rivals characters for ranked

Marvel Rivals [1] is out and has taken the entire hero shooter genre by storm. Being called the Overwatch 2 killer by many, even if that likely isn’t the case, the Marvel Rivals Discord server has already gone on to become the single gaming server on the platform with the most members, showcasing its popularity.

Today, we want to take a closer look at the playable characters players use when they want to climb the ranks. To be more specific, what are the best characters players should use if they want to consistently win ranked games in Marvel Rivals? From Luna Snow to Iron Fist, we’ve expanded on the strengths of every playable character we think can potentially lead you to the top of the Marvel Rivals leaderboards.

So, without further ado, here are the best Marvel Rivals characters to help you win your ranked games.

Luna Snow

Luna Snow is part pop star and part superhero who can put on a show while saving the world. However, her multitasking between these two lives isn’t all that makes her special—her role as a strategist shines with her ability to burst heal her teammates and her movement speed.

She harnesses Light & Dark Ice fire, which can be utilized to heal both herself and allies while damaging enemies simultaneously. This can make for an adaptable playstyle. Adding on, her healing isn’t dependent on a resource meter like Mantis, releasing a burden off players’ shoulders and making her an excellent choice to play in ranked matches.

Jeff the Land Shark

Jeff is a mid-to-close-range strategist who, as a shark, has increased mobility to dive around the map and can contribute healing and utility to the team. He can spit healing bubbles to teammates, and when picked up, can replenish allies’ health and additionally provide a healing boost.

On top of that, by diving underneath the ground, he can be a slippery character to catch as he escapes from enemies or repositions. This ability in particular makes him shine bright among the other supports.

Cloak and Dagger

This duo is one of the best contenders in the game’s strategist roster at a competitive level. However, it’s important to understand the balance of using both sides of this character: Cloak as DPS and Dagger as a healer to ensure victory in your matches.

In-game, you can switch between each to use their respective abilities. Fortunately, they perform similarly with their abilities, sharing comparable tactics and playstyles. Thankfully, their main attacks don’t require amazing aim, and you can heal teammates or finish off weakened enemies fairly quickly by switching between the two characters.

Doctor Strange

This doctor plays the role of a Vanguard Hero and excels at long-distance damage while defending the backlines and preventing enemy duelists from advancing. Although he has a lower maximum health compared to the other Vanguard heroes in the game, with his Shield of the Seraphim ability, his effective HP increases to 1450 when facing enemy projectile attacks.

Despite the lengthy cooldown of his ability, it’s also one of the most overpowered abilities in the game. By creating two portals on the map, it can not only be used as a shortcut but also to throw your enemies off guard.

Doctor Strange’s ultimate takes relatively longer to charge up compared to other characters in the game, but it’s also one of the strongest ultimates and is capable of guaranteeing victory for your team if used properly. It’s a powerful AOE that stuns nearby enemies and eliminates the souls of those it hits.

Keep in mind, though, that it has its downsides, such as not being able to target enemies through walls and having a long windup time. But, despite this, it’s still extremely strong and can turn the tide of the match if used smartly. This makes him a top-tier choice for your team.

Iron Fist

This martial artist is one of the Duelist heroes available from a wide range of characters, and his abilities revolve around mobility, dodging ranged attacks, and swiftly lunging at the enemy backline to eliminate healers and ranged duelists with precision and efficiency.

Although his initial low HP and melee-focused kit may make you hesitate, he turns into one of the more rewarding characters to play in Marvel Rivals, especially for players who prefer risky gameplay.

However, it's important to know when to fall back and when to dive into action while also keeping your resources in check to use him efficiently and bring out his potential.

Winter Soldier

Winter Soldier, also known as “Bucky,” is a duelist who specializes in combos and can quickly switch from mid-range attacks to crowd-control abilities in an instant. He’s one of the higher-rated DPS heroes in the game as of now and for good reason. His destructive ultimate, Kraken Impact, can endlessly chain combos together and eliminate enemies.

Despite all this, playing alongside your team is essential instead of running off on your own. This will make sure that your team can help pick you up if you find yourself in a difficult situation; that way you can deal a significant amount of damage in a short amount of time effectively.
