Pokémon continues to grow and evolve as the series reaches new heights. The biggest additions were in the form of new evolutions, including Mega Evolutions, that are the highlights of Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Naturally, thighs means that the game introduced a slew of new Mega Evolutions for players to acquire. These range from Mega Skarmory to Mega Emboar, evolutions of two Pokémon who didn’t have additional evolutions for years. We’re here to go through all of the new Megas in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
So, if you’re interested in all of the new Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, keep reading because we have you covered.
What are the new Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?
Pokémon Legends: Z-A introduced a total of 26 new Mega Evolutions to the game series. These range from evolutions of new starters like Meganium, as well as those for older Gen-1 Pokémon like Mega Starmie and Mega Clafable.
Below is a list of all the new Mega Pokémon [1] introduced in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Mega Clefable
Mega Victreebel
Mega Starmia
Mega Dragonite
Mega Meganium
Mega Feraligatr
Mega Skarmory
Mega Froslass
Mega Emboar
Mega Excadrill
Mega Scolipede
Mega Scrafty
Mega Eelektross
Mega Chandelure
Mega Chesnaught
Mega Delphox
Mega Greninja
Mega Pyroar
Mega Malamar
Mega Barbaracle
Mega Dragalge
Mega Hawlucha
Mega Zygarde
Mega Drampa
Mega Falinks
It’s important to keep in mind that this isn’t all of the Mega Evolutions to come to the game. On the contrary, since Pokémon Legends: Z-A is slated to have multiple DLCs, it makes sense that the game will eventually introduce new Megas to the game, including the Mega Zygarde that was featured in the DLC’s trailer.
With this being said, it’s fairly unlikely that the DLCs will have many more Mega Evolutions. Since the game will likely only have a handful of DLCs, and that too without much space expansion, the number of new Megas will, at most, likely only double.
How do you Mega Evolve in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?
Fortunately, Mega Evolving a Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A isn’t too tough. All you have to do is equip a Pokémon with its specific Mega Stone. For example, if you want to Mega Evolve Greninja, then you’ll need a Greninjite. With that done, you’ll also require the Key Stone for yourself, since that’s how this new form of evolution is unlocked. You get the Key Stone during Main Mission 9: Chase That Mysterious Pokémon!
With both of the prerequisites met, it’s time to go into a battle with the Pokémon you want to evolve. You’ll see that the screen will have a new Mega Power meter. Once it’s full, you can Mega Evolve your Pokémon to its more powerful stage. This evolution lasts until the meter depletes, at which point the Pokémon will revert to its original form.
As for what happens if the match ends while a Pokémon is already Mega Evolved, the Pokémon still reverts to its regular stage. Mega Evolution isn’t permanent, which is why you must Mega Evolve your Pokémon again every time you start a battle.
