How to jump in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Pokémon games have come a long way compared to when they first came out. What started as a series of 2D games has now transformed into games that offer rich open worlds for players to explore. Pokémon Legends: Z-A is similar, since it lets players explore the rooftops of Luminose City to catch unique Pokémon.

Traversing the rooftops in Lumunise City requires players to play a little vertically. The best way to do this is to jump and glide between rooftops. However, the ability to do so isn’t there from the start, which may lead some to wonder how they can jump in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

How do you unlock gliding in Pokémon Legends Z-A?

Those who want to cross gaps between buildings in Pokémon Legends Z-A will notice that the simple jump button iis not enough for players. After all, the initial jump only has a little airtime and doesn’t help players with covering any large distances.

The good news is that this is where gliding comes into play. Acting as what is essentially a double jump, gliding lets players cross large gaps that they otherwise couldn’t. Players get the Roto-Glide during Main Mission 16: A Rogue Mega Beedrill. After unlocking it, just press the A button when falling to boost yourself into the air and glide for a couple of seconds, letting you cover more distance.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind when using the gliding mechanic in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Specifically, while there is no cooldown to using the Roto-Glide, you have to use it before you hit the ground. This means that you can’t use it to jump vertically or directly forward. The good news is that there are plenty of ways for players to simply climb buildings, so if you can’t jump onto a building using the Roto-Glide, you can probably just climb it using some other means.
