How to Use Custom Game Code In Overwatch 2

How to Use Custom Game Code In Overwatch 2

One rather new feature in Overwatch 2 is the ability to enter custom game codes. These custom games allow players to play Overwatch 2 in new and imaginative ways. However, because the process of entering a custom game mode is so needlessly complicated for both PC and Consoles, many players end up not using this feature.

To use a custom game mode, you’ll have to launch Overwatch and then go to ‘play’. From the many options, you’ll find the ‘game browse’ option. Here, choose between ‘join’ and ‘create’, and if you select the latter, you’ll be given the option to enter a custom game code. After entering it, simply select the join option and the game will load.

We’ll be guiding you on how you can use custom game codes in Overwatch 2 on both PC and console.

How to Use Custom Game Code on PC

First of all, let us go through how you can use a custom game code on Overwatch 2 for PC.

  1. Before anything, you want to launch Overwatch 2 as otherwise, you won’t be able to use the code.
  2. Then, once you’ve gotten to the main menu, select the ‘Play’ option.
  3. In the ‘Play’ tab, you’ll see a bunch of different options you can choose from. You’ll want to select the ‘custom game’ one to proceed.
  4. In the game browse tab, you’ll find a bunch of options to choose from. However, you want to look for the one that just says ‘custom game’ and click it.
  5. Now, you’ll have two options as you’ll be able to choose between either join or create. If you have a custom game code and want to join an existing game, click on ‘join’.
  6. A text box will appear on the screen, allowing you to enter the custom game code. Type in the code accurately. You can use your keyboard to enter the code.
  7. Finally, as soon as you enter the game code, as long as it’s viable you’ll be able to join a lobby with the custom game settings applied and play with your friends.

How to Use Custom Game Code on Console

Now that you know how to use custom game codes for Overwatch 2 on PC, how about going through how to do the same on a console? While most of it is the same, there are a couple of minor differences you’ll mostly only notice if you pay close attention.

Now, using a custom game code on Overwatch 2 for any console is pretty similar to what we mentioned above, There’s the same launching of the game and getting to the main menu. You also have to select the ‘play’ option and then go for ‘custom game.’

In the Game Browser menu, you'll find various settings for custom games. Choose ‘Custom Game’ to access the custom game settings. With that done, you'll have two options, those being ‘Create’ and ‘Join.’ Since you have a custom game code that you want to enter, you’ll have to click on ‘join.’

As soon as you click on join, a text box will appear on the screen, asking you to enter the custom game code. Take your time to ensure the code is correct and once you've entered the code, select the ‘Join’ button.

If the code is valid, you will be able to join the game and play with other participants in the custom game lobby that you get added to. However, if it’s correct then an error message will pop up.
