Path of Exile 2 may have a lot of content for players to consume, especially considering the game is still in its early access phase, but that doesn’t mean it’ll last players forever. Many players have already completed everything there is to discover in the game’s current form and are anxiously awaiting a new update to change things up.
Fortunately, fans are in luck as Path of Exile 2’s developer, Grinding Gear Games, finally revealed new info about the upcoming Path of Exile 2 update. In addition to tweaking how towers work in the game, the upcoming update will also bring new changes, both good and potentially bad.
Here’s what to know about the upcoming Path of Exile 2 patch 0.2.0 [1].
How is the PoE 2 update changing towers?
Currently, towers play a crucial role in Path of Exile 2’s endgame, helping players expand their vision on the Atlas map and spread mechanics like Breach or Delirium. However, many players find them dull due to repetitive layouts and a lack of variety. Most simply complete them for progression without any real excitement.
Patch 0.2.0 aims to change that. Towers will now include new mechanics, such as boss fights, and can be enhanced using tablets from nearby towers. These changes should make them more interesting, but some players worry about the difficulty increase. Not all builds are designed for boss fights, and the update does not address the poor tower layouts.
Popular Path of Exile streamer ‘Empyrian’ has expressed concerns that towers could now consume valuable tablet activations, making them less appealing. He believes the update could be beneficial if tower layouts improve but otherwise considers it a step in the wrong direction. Some players, however, welcome the added challenge and variety.
New items coming to Path of Exile 2
Along with tower improvements, patch 0.2.0 introduces new support gems, focusing on skills that currently lack gem options. Additionally, new unique items will be available to enhance builds.
