League of Legends may be a free-to-play game, but that doesn’t mean players don’t spend money on it. In particular, multiple players are constantly spending money to buy the latest skins or best cosmetics. However, it can’t be argued that the Exalted skins and Mythic Variants of regular skins are the most sought after.
These skins are always claimable exclusively from their limited-time sanctum banners. This means that players can’t accidentally come across them when opening chests, and they’re unobtainable when their banner expires. However, according to new information, that may not be the case.
Here’s what Riot Games has to say about whether Exalted skins and Mythic variants can return in League of Legends.
Can Sanctum skins return in League of Legends?
According to the official League of Legends support page detailing the Sanctum [1], the following was to be said about the limited availability of Sanctum-exclusive skins.
Though Exalted and Mythic Variant skins might return to The Sanctum at some point in the future, there's never a guarantee. The only time they are available for sure is during their initial release date window.
This means that there’s a chance that exalted skins, including Arcane Fractured Jinx, Radiant Serpent Sett, and Sahn-Uzal Mordekaiser, may return to the League of Legends Sanctum at some point. This also includes Mythic variants of skins, including Quantum Galaxy Slayer Zed and After Hours Spirit Blossom Springs Ahri.
However, there are some things to keep in mind. Firstly, there’s no confirmation that these skins will actually return to League of Legends. Every new season and event brings a new Sanctum for players to roll in, and making a Sanctum return will make it tougher for Riot to advertise anything new. Of course, fans won’t have any idea of which returning banner to expect, either. There’s a chance that League of Legends may go the traditional gacha route and make it so there are two ongoing banners at all times. The first is the new one, while the second is a returning banner that comes in rotation to make things more predictable.
Secondly, these skins will remain exclusive to the Sanctum. Just because a skin came out in the Sanctum a year ago doesn’t mean that Riot Games will add it to the chest pool. This means that players must spend money if they want to acquire these Sanctum-exclusive skins, and they aren’t guaranteed to get the skin unless they hit the set pity level.
