B8 and HEROIC advance to BLAST.tv Austin Major

B8 and HEROIC advance to BLAST.tv Austin Major

The Counter-Strike 2 [1] competitive scene continues to garner worldwide praise and acclaim, and it’s no surprise why. Valve has ensured the game remains true to the original Counter-Strike games while also adding some new and modern twists.

The Blast.tv Austin Major is on the horizon, and teams are already getting together to apply for it. While there’s some time until the tournament starts, the first two teams to advance to it have already beendetermined, and one of them was likely a no brainer for most fans.

Without further ado, here’s what to know about the first two teams to advance to the Counter-Strike 2 Blast.tv Austin Major.

How did B8 and HEROIC get spots at the BLAST.tv Austin Major?

A packed audience at an esports event in a vibrant arena.

HEROIC and B8 became the first CS2 teams to lock in spots in the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 stage 2 by getting a perfect 3-0 record in Stage 1 on June 4th. HEROIC was widely expected as one of the best teams in stage 1 and a favorite for a 3-0 finish in the pick’em challenge. On the other hand, B8’s flawless performance was surprising, as many predicted the Ukrainian squad would drop at least one match during the initial stage despite being considered competitive.

Their qualification means the Stage 2 team list includes Falcons, FaZe Clan, 3DMAX, Virtus.pro, paiN, FURIA, MIBR, and M80, alongside HEROIC and B8. The final six spots will be filled by three teams with 3-1 records and three teams with 3-2 records from stage 1, completing the sixteen-team lineup for the next phase of the major.

What defined B8 and HEROIC’s path to the Austin Major?

Although HEROIC won all three matches, they had challenging moments that threatened predictions. They started slowly against the Chinggis Warriors but recovered. Their momentum allowed them to get a victory over NRG in Round 2, highlighted by xfl0ud’s dominant 22-10 K/D performance. FlyQuest pushed them by winning a map in Round 3, but HEROIC secured Mirage to win the series, fielded by tN1R’s 61 kills across the best-of-three.

B8 showcased their gameplay under pressure throughout stage 1. They narrowly won against Imperial and OG in the early rounds. B8 lost the first map against Wildcard, but they responded with a win on Dust2 thanks to a nearly flawless CT side, forcing a final match on Inferno. B8 delivered a 13-2 victory to secure their stage 2 spot. Former Na’Vi and NiP players npl and headtr1ck were essential, securing a high number of kills in the best-of-three.
