How to counter Moon Knight in Marvel Rivals

How to counter Moon Knight in Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals [1] has an ever-expanding roster of excellent heroes and villains based on the Marvel universes. From Iron Man to Spider-Man, a lot of players gravitated toward the game initially thanks to the familiarity they share with the characters, even if they stayed for the excellent hero shooter gameplay.

However, while most heroes are fairly balanced and easy to counter, there are some exceptions. Moon Knight is arguably the biggest example of an anomaly hero who a lot of players struggle to counter. While there are multiple reasons for his difficult counter strategies, his ultimate ability post-season one is when most players started noticing how much potential he has.

So, we thought why not go through some ways players can counter Moon Knight using some of the most popular heroes in the game? If the primary issue is thanks to your teammates being bad then the best thing to do is to increase your rank, automatically upgrading the level of your teammates. We’re here to help with this too, since you can always hire a professional Marvel Rivals booster from Eloking to show you the ropes. Why is it difficult to counter Moon Knight?

Moon Knight has become a powerful character in Marvel Rivals after his buffs at the start of Season One. He can deal consistent damage from a safe distance and his ultimate, Hand of Khonshu, and quickly wipe out opponents.

However, some heroes can counter him to disrupt his gameplay and let their team win. Here’s a list of characters that counter Moon Knight.

Spider-Man

Spider-Man is a problem for Moon Knight because of his mobility and high burst damage combos. Moon Knight struggles to escape from Spider-Man’s attacks because his speed and agility make it difficult for him to deal damage.

Spider-Man can traverse the map to reach Moon Knight and use his burst damage combos to kill him quickly. If a Moon Knight faces a good Spider-Man player, they must switch to a different character like Winter Soldier because they won’t be able to help their team if they keep getting jumped.

Captain America

Captain America is a spectacular counter to Moon Knight because of his sticking power and damage output. Moon Knight has trouble retreating from combat against Captain America since he can isolate him and apply pressure.

Even if Captain America doesn’t get the kill, he can force enemy healers to focus on keeping the Moon Knight alive to create opportunities for his team to capitalize on. Captain America’s high health makes it difficult for Moon Knight to win a 1v1 fight. Although Captain America is hard to learn, a good player can quickly reduce Moon Knight’s effectiveness.

Thor

Thor is a safe and reliable counter to Moon Knight, unlike Captain America. He can use his damage, mobility, and ability to biome tank through ability rotations to consistently force Moon Knight off vantage points and make him go into bad positions.

Thor’s survivability and damage let him 1v2 the backline if played well, making him a problem to Moon Knight. He will struggle to kill off Thor without support from his team.

Iron Man

Iron Man’s flight and consistent damage make him a counter to Moon Knight. Moon Knight’s kit has difficulty against aerial characters, and Iron Man’s ability to always be airborne while dealing damage puts him at a disadvantage. Moon Knight will struggle to survive if Iron Man and Hulk are on the same team due to their team-up ability.

Competitive players recommend against picking Moon Knight whenever Hulk and Iron Man are on the same team. Iron Man’s mobility and DPS output make him an incredible counter.

Hulk

Hulk is a hard counter to Moon Knight thanks to his Gamma Shield, mobility, and health pool. Hulk can jump into fights or retreat and pressurize Moon Knight while disrupting other areas.

Moon Knight can’t out-damage Hulk’s health, and his mobility makes it difficult for him to escape. If a Moon Knight faces Hulk, they should switch to a different character like the Winter Soldier or the Punisher to stand a chance.

Venom

Venom is arguably the best counter to Moon Knight, especially if his team doesn’t have multiple damage dealers. With a large health pool and the ability to get shields, Venom can stick to Moon Knight for enough time to get a kill.

His combo of leaping into Moon Knight and using Cellular Corrosion can immediately eliminate him. Venom’s presence can give his team time to focus on the enemy frontline if the opponent's healers prioritize keeping Moon Knight alive. His tankiness and disruption make him an incredible counter to Moon Knight.

Black Panther

Black Panther is a more reliable option compared to Spider-Man for countering Moon Knight. His burst damage can kill multiple enemies, and his ability to dive in and retreat constantly keeps pressure on Moon Knight. Black Panther can punish the healers trying to keep Moon Knight alive with his dashes, spears, and other abilities.

Although Black Panther got his health nerfed, he still has enough survivability to go against Moon Knight. His ability to constantly engage and withdraw ensures that Moon Knight has no breathing room and forces him to reposition.

Storm

Storm is one of the best duelists in the game, and she hard-counters Moon Knight. She can deal incredible damage from afar, which makes her dangerous, combined with her aerial mobility. If the Moon Knight decides to fight back, Storm can take cover or retreat, making it nearly impossible to deal damage or kill her.

Moon Knight has an incredibly low chance of winning against Storm in a 1v1, so he can only survive if he has teammates nearby. Storm can force Moon Knight players to switch characters.
