One of the biggest appeals of League of Legends [1] is that, while the basic gameplay loop is always the same when it comes to the usual modes, the limited-time modes always change things up. These modes range from the beloved Arena mode to something like URF. Now, Riot Games is coming out with a brand new limited-time game mode to celebrate the launch of LoL 2025 Season 2 called Brawl.
Today, we’re here to go through everything players need to know about the League of Legends mode called Brawl. This includes what the mode is, how it works, how long it’ll be here, and more. Naturally, we’ll also highlight when the mode will start, though those in the know about the upcoming season will likely already have an idea.
So, without any further ado, here’s what to know about the newly announced Brawl mode in League of Legends.
What is Brawl in League of Legends?
Brawl is a 5v5 team deathmatch mode that removes all traditional objectives like towers, inhibitors, and the Nexus. Instead of pushing lanes, teams compete to bring the enemy’s collective 250 HP pool down to zero through player and minion kills. Each takedown shaves HP off the opposing team, keeping the action fast and constant.
The mode takes place in Bandle City, a new map created specifically for Brawl. It’s small, wide, and built for skirmishes, with portals that enhance minion-based damage. These portals play a tactical role, giving players a new way to pressure the enemy and influence the flow of battle through minion control.
Brawl is also tuned to be more forgiving and balanced than traditional modes. It includes comeback buffs and jungle camp power-ups, which help struggling teams stay in the fight. These mechanics make Brawl particularly welcoming for new players or those looking to test champions in a low-pressure environment.

When will the League of Legends mode Brawl end?
As stated above, Brawl will come to League of Legends a little after the next season launches. Players can expect to play the mode starting May 14, 2025. The mode will run for approximately six weeks, as it is with most other limited-time modes. Therefore, Brawl will likely leave the game at the start of July, giving players more than enough time to enjoy it.
Whether you’re trying out a new champion, returning to the game after a break, or just want a change of pace, Brawl offers a fun and low-stress way to enjoy League of Legends. With shorter matches, no complex objectives, and a focus on combat and coordination, it’s the perfect mode for quick sessions and experimentation.
