Gen.G wins the 2025 LCK grand final

Gen.G wins the 2025 LCK grand final

League of Legends’ competitive scene is extremely dynamic. While some teams are quick to lead the fray, others slowly but steadily make their presence known. On the other hand, some teams come out of nowhere to dominate the entire scene, and that’s exactly what has happened with Gen.G this year.

After much trouble and hardships in the 2025 LCK [1] playoffs, Gen.G faced Hanwha Life Esports in the grand final to determine which team deserves to be called the best. The match just concluded, and the victor likely doesn’t surprise anyone.

Without any further delays, here’s how the League of Legends team Gen.G defeated Hanwha Life Esports in the 2025 LCK grand final.

Who won the 2025 LCK final?

The 2025 LCK grand final saw Gen.G face off against Hanwha Life Esports. This was a fairly popular match, considering Hanwha Life Esports had just recently defeated KT Rolster, a team that took out Gen.G in the playoffs. The grand final started with Gen.G quickly winning two consecutive games, despite HLE having a slight advantage at the start of the first game.

HLE bounced back in the third game by taking down Gen.G and winning a valuable game against the opposition. The team tried to keep the momentum going by winning the fourth game, and even had a significant gold advantage for a good majority of the game. However, things started falling apart when Zeus and Peanut started finding themselves in odd places. Pair that with Ruler stealing objectives like a pro, and Gen.G stole a dragon and a Baron from HLE, despite being on the defensive. With all of that, the Elder Dragon was about to spawn, but Gen.G won an excellent team fight that resulted in only HLE’s ADC, Viper, being alive.

Viper tried hard to clear the wave, but with Gen.G’s players having the baron buff, it was nearly impossible for the Lucian to do anything worthwhile. This resulted in Gen.G taking the win and, with that, the entire 2025 LCK trophy.

Which Korean teams qualified for the 2025 Worlds?

First Land esports competitor

Gen.G had already qualified for Worlds thanks to the team winning this year’s Mid-Season Invitational. Thanks to this, three more Korean teams were able to qualify for this. Those teams include T1, which barely made it to the fray and will have to beat Invictus Gaming in the play-in stage to qualify for the Swiss Stage. Aside from that, KT Rolster qualified for coming in third in the 2025 LCK playoffs. Finally, Hanwha Life Esports reached the grand final and therefore qualified for Worlds.
