League of Legends: AD Lethality Varus is Coming Back

Varus, a champion once known for his powerful poke and burst damage, has recently fallen into a less effective, tankier build. However, Riot Games is set to bring back the lethality AD Varus that players loved, with changes aimed at shifting his build back to full lethality. E Ability - Hail of Arrows

One of the most significant changes to Varus is the adjustment to his E ability, Hail of Arrows. Previously, this ability scaled with 90% bonus AD, but the new update increases this scaling to 110% bonus AD. This means that the more AD Varus gains from items, the more damage Hail of Arrows will deal. 

This change is designed to encourage players to build Varus with lethality and attack damage, moving away from the tankier builds that have dominated his playstyle recently.

This increase in scaling will allow Varus to deal more consistent damage throughout the game, especially in the late game when he has stacked AD items. It also makes Hail of Arrows a more significant threat in team fights and poke scenarios, aligning with the high-risk, high-reward playstyle that lethality Varus is known for.

Q Ability - Piercing Arrow

The most impactful change to Varus is the overhaul of his Q ability, Piercing Arrow. Riot has dramatically increased the maximum base damage of Piercing Arrow at full charge time. Previously, the damage ranged from 15 at rank 1 to 235 at rank 5. 

With the new update, this damage now scales from 90 to a whopping 370 at full charge. This is a substantial buff that makes Piercing Arrow a terrifying poke tool once again.

Moreover, the Q ability no longer scales with total AD but with bonus AD, with the scaling increased from 145% to 190% at max rank. This change further incentivizes building lethality items, as the more AD Varus accumulates from his items, the more devastating his Q will become. At level 18, a fully charged Piercing Arrow can deal over 100 more damage than before, making Varus a serious burst threat from a distance.
