Those familiar with any Marvel storyline will likely already know what sets mutants apart from regular heroes in the Marvel Universe. Mutants are humans who have a special genetic enhancement called the X-Gene, which grants them supernatural powers. The problem is that the mutants can’t choose what powers they get.
Thanks to this, some mutants get excellent psychic powers like Emma Frost, which make her the best mutant in Marvel Rivals [1]. The mutants in Marvel Rivals include Magik, Namor, Magneto, Wolverine, Emma Frost, Psylocke, and Storm, though not all of them are good.
We thought, why not go through every mutant in Marvel Rivals and rank them from worst to best based on our personal opinion?
7: Magik
Magik is a sword-wielding duelist who excels in close-range combat, using her weapon to pressure enemies and deny strategists and vanguards breathing room. Her Stepping Discs allow her to engage enemies and retreat, making her a slippery skirmisher.
Magik’s effectiveness depends on her positioning and team support. Without a healer or Strategist assisting her, she can die quickly during fights. Although her ability can convert damage into health to give her sustainability, she has a tough time against ranged opponents who can kite her. Magik’s lack of consistent survivability and reliance on perfect engagements make her the worst mutant in Marvel Rivals.

6: Storm
Storm’s flight and weather-based abilities make her a power duelist capable of dominating from the skies while shutting down ground-based fighters like Squirrel Girl. All her attacks punish grouped-up opponents, and Weather Control buffs her team’s movement or damage.
Despite her strengths, Storm needs precise positioning and team coordination to maximize her impact. Her ultimate ability is a hurricane, which can wipe enemies but leaves her vulnerable if incorrectly used. Although her Season 1 buffs made her stronger, she doesn’t have the raw carry potential of other mutants, making her dependent on the team.
5: Namor
Namor thrives as an anti-dive character, shutting down Vanguards like Venom and Duelists like Spider-Man with his Trident of Neptune and Aquatic Dominion turrets. His Blessing of the Deep gives him a way to escape, making him durable during fights.
Namor’s effectiveness depends on the enemy’s team composition. If opponents avoid direct engagements, Namor’s control becomes less impactful. His projectiles require good aim, and his lack of mobility outside his barrier limits his flexibility. Even though a skilled Namor can control choke points, he’s only good in specific situations.
4: Wolverine
Wolverine is an anti-tank character who thrives in close-quarter combat, deleting Vanguards with his Savage Claw and keeping himself alive through his Healing Factor. His high mobility and ability to move enemies wherever he wants make him a scary threat.
However, Wolverine struggles against counters like Namor, Winter Soldier, and flying heroes like Iron Man and Human Torch. Enemies can kite or burst him down without proper team support. While his passive healing and damage buffs make him a problem in the correct matchups, he relies too much on advantageous engagements, and vulnerability to crowd control holds him back.
3: Magneto
Magneto is one of the best vanguards in the game, providing incredible shielding with abilities like Metallic Curtain and Iron Bulwark. His Iron Volley attacks provide good offense, but his power is in protecting teammates and locking down objectives. His lack of mobility makes him vulnerable to flanks, so he needs strong backline support to stay effective.
When Magneto’s paired with the right team, he’s nearly indestructible and can change the outcome of team fights with well-timed ultimates. What sets him back is his slow speed and dependence on teammates.
2: Psylocke
Psylocke is a fast flanker who is excellent at diving into enemy backlines to eliminate priority heroes and retreat unharmed. Her Psionic Crossbow and Psi-Blade Dash allow her to engage opponents, while her stealth and mobility make her tough to catch.
She relies on surprise attacks because her low health pool prevents her from confronting enemies directly. A highly skilled Psylocke can single-handedly defeat entire teams, but her learning curve and reliance on perfect execution keep her as an easy pick. Only expert players can utilize her full potential, making her a high-risk, high-reward character. She's also one of the most popular characters in the game, showcased by how she was among the first characters to get a customizable skin.
1: Emma Frost
Emma Frost is the best mutant in Marvel Rivals due to her incredible versatility. Her human form provides mid-range burst damage and shielding, while Diamond Form transforms her into a high-defense melee brawler with crowd control abilities. This dual playstyle allows her to adapt to numerous situations, making her excellent in both offensive and defensive scenarios.
Unlike other mutants, Emma excels in every type of combat situation. Her only weakness is poor timing. If players misuse her Diamond Form, she can leave her team vulnerable and herself once the ability ends. She outshines every other mutant when played correctly.
The current mutants in Marvel Rivals are Magik, Storm, Namor, Wolverine, Magneto, Psylocke, and Emma Frost. This list may expand as the game gets updated.
Emma Frost's versatility makes her the best. Her human form is good for damage and shielding, while Diamond Form is good for melee and crowd control. She excels in both offense and defense.
According to this ranking, Magik is the worst mutant due to her lack of consistent survivability and reliance on perfect engagements. She struggles against ranged opponents.
Psylocke is a fast flanker, great at diving into enemy backlines to eliminate priority targets. She relies on surprise attacks and is difficult to catch due to her stealth and mobility.
Namor excels as an anti-dive character, shutting down Vanguards and Duelists. His control is less impactful if opponents avoid direct engagements.
