Path of Exile 2 [1] has many tropes present in most ARGP fantasy games. These include buffs that you can receive from various sources, from gear to spells. However, the easiest way to get any sort of power-up or buff is by equipping the right charms. Though, which charms are the best in Path of Exile 2?
To answer this question, we scoured the in-game fictional land for some of the best charms we can find. All of it was done to construct the most definitive list going through the best charms in Path of Exile 2. These include S-tier charms that have amazing potential regardless of your build, as well as some niche ones that will only appeal to you in certain situations.
So, if you’re looking for new charms to use then look no further because we have you covered. Of course, just charms aren’t enough to help you perfect your build as you also need the right gear. If you ever find yourself short on orbs or other currencies then we recommend you check out Eloking’s Path of Exile 2 marketplace. Who knows, you could find what you’re looking for.
S-Tier (Essential charms)
The first type of charms we want to go through are S-tier ones. These are essential charms that can easily take your build to the next level with their excellent effects and potential.
Thawing charm
Activation requirement: When Frozen
Charges used: 80
Duration: 3 sec
Effect: Grants immunity to Freeze when Frozen
Freeze is one of the most dangerous status effects as it immobilizes you completely. The Thawing charm is essential for Energy Shield-based characters and anyone playing high-tier content where Freeze can be a death sentence. Since gear and flasks do not always grant Freeze immunity, this charm prevents being locked down at a key moment.
Staunching charm
Activation requirement: When Bleeding
Charges used: 60
Duration: 3 sec
Effect: Grants immunity to Bleeding when Bleeding starts
Bleeding is particularly lethal as it continues to deal damage while moving. This charm is important for high-mobility characters like Rangers and Duelists who rely on movement to avoid attacks. Without it, a strong Bleed effect can quickly eat away your health pool, making this charm a must-have.
Golden charm
Activation requirement: When killing a Rare/Unique Enemy
Charges used: 40
Duration: 1 sec
Effect: 20% increase in rarity of items found when killing a Rare/Unique Enemy
This is a must-have for loot-focused players in the endgame. Since it triggers upon defeating Rare/Unique enemies, it consistently enhances loot quality during mapping and farming sessions.
A-Tier (Highly effective charms)
Up next are A-tier charms. While these charms are also really good, they don’t have the game-changing attributes S-tier charms do.
Antidote charm
Activation requirement: When Poisoned
Charges used: 40
Duration: 3 sec
Effect: Grants immunity to Poison when Poisoned
Poison can stack up and drain health, making this charm useful in chaos-heavy areas. While not a universal necessity as Freeze or Bleezing immunity, it's a key tool for builds that struggle with Chaos resistance or face heavy Poison damage in endgame encounters.
Dousing charm
Activation requirement: When Ignited
Charges used: 60
Duration: 3 sec
Effect: Grants immunity to Ignite when Ignited
Ignite prevents Energy Shield from recharging and blows significant damage over time. Energy Shield-based builds will benefit the most from this charm, as Ignite can impact survivability.
Grounding charm
Activation requirement: When Shocked
Charges used: 50
Duration: 3 sec
Effect: Grants immunity to Shock when Shocked
Shock increases the damage you take, making it a deadly status effect. This charm is especially useful in high-tier maps and against bosses that inflict heavy Lightning Damage. Preventing Shock can be the difference between surviving a big hit and getting one shot.
B-Tier (Situational but useful charms)
B-tier charms have potential but only in certain situations. These situations may depend on the type of build you’re going for or enemies you're facing.
Amethyst charm
Activation requirement: Taking Chaos damage
Charges used: 60
Duration: 4 sec
Effect: 18% increase in Chaos resistance when taking Chaos damage
Chaos damage is difficult to mitigate, and some of the strongest and most dangerous enemies/bosses in PoE 2 deal a lot of it. However, since the charm provides a temporary resistance boost instead of complete immunity, it is a decent but not essential pick.
Ruby charm
Activation requirement: Taking Fire damage
Charges used: 40
Duration: 4 sec
Effect: 25% increase in Fire resistance when taking Fire damage
Handy against Fire-based bosses and enemies, this charm can help shake off burst damage but is generally unneeded if you have the proper gear and passive tree investments.
Sapphire charm
Activation requirement: Taking Cold damage
Charges used: 40
Duration: 4 sec
Effect: 25% to Cold resistance when taking Cold damage
Similar to the Ruby Charm, this one is useful in specific fights but unnecessary in most cases where gear is sufficient.
C-Tier (Niche use cases)
Finally, C-tier charms are fairly niche. While some players will think they’re fairly good, most won’t have much use for them.
Topaz charm
Activation requirement: Taking Lightning damage
Charges used: 40
Duration: 4 sec
Effect: 25% to Lightning resistance when taking Lightning damage
This charm is only useful in fights against Lightning-heavy enemies. Most builds already have that sorted, making this charm unnecessary apart from specific encounters.
Stone charm
Activation requirement: When Stunned
Charges used: 40
Duration: 2.5 sec
Effect: Grants immunity to Stun when Stunned
Stuns can be annoying but not as deadly as Freeze or Bleed. This charm works for melee characters who frequently engage in close combat.
Silver charm
Activation requirement: Affected by a Slow
Charges used: 40
Duration: 3 seconds
Effect: Grants immunity to Slow when Slowed
While Slows can be frustrating, they are rarely lethal. This charm may be useful in fights where Slow effects are a core mechanic.
