Evgenii “Chu” Makarov better known in the Dota 2 community as Chuvash, started his early Dota 2 career back in 2016. He began playing for Comanche [1]which kickstarted what would be a long journey in the competitive Dota 2 scene. He gained a lot of recognition for his skills and dedication and quickly became an exciting prospect in the competitive world. 

Though starting off playing for Comanche, he switched and transitioned between some different teams throughout his career, something that helped him develop a very good skill set.

His ability to adapt to different roles and playstyles was exciting to watch and this versatility and dynamic nature played a huge role in helping his teams win. His dedication and hard work gradually attracted larger and more prestigious teams in the Dota 2 world. By the time he joined Effect in 2017, Chuvash had already cemented himself as a skilled player whose team could rely on him. He had great performances and started to gain a lot more attention during this time.

Throughout his career, Chuvash has played for a lot of teams and they have all contributed to his growth both as a player and as a professional. He started with Comanche, he switched over to Effect in 2017. With them, he played an important part in their performances in various tournaments and gained tons of experience and recognition. Most notably, his ability to perform under pressure had him noticed as a rising star.

In 2018, Chuvash joined the ranks of one of the biggest organizations in the Dota 2 world, Na’Vi. With them, he had strong performances in some major tournaments, including the Megafon Winter Clash 2018 and the Dream League season 10 2018, where Na’Vi finished in second place both times. These were strong performances and Chuvash’s presence in Na’Vi added depth to their roster, providing them with strategic contributions.

After departing from Na’Vi on April 24, 2019, He continued his journey for FORZE Esports for 3 months and also spent a brief time with Team Unique. Later, he joined EXTREMUM for 7 months. In 2023 Chuvash transitioned to OG where he had solid contributions both as a player and a coach from March 6 2023 to June 10, 2023. These diverse experiences not only as a player but also as a coach shaped him into the versatile player he is today. 

Role and Playstyle

Chuvash is known for his role as a support player in the game. He has great game sense, clever positioning, and a knack for making some very important calls during matches. He’s great at creating opportunities for his team and offers control and vision over the key areas on the map. Time and time again he’s shown he has a great understanding of the mechanics and can predict enemy movements on the fly.

His biggest strength is probably his flexibility which allows him to play a wide range of support heroes like Lion, Lich, and Oracle who all have unique abilities. He can adjust his playstyle based on what his team needs at the moment. His precise rotations and consistency in securing that early-game advantage have earned him a good reputation. His proactive approach to map control helps his team make smart decisions and always have an upper hand during fights. 

Competitive performances

Chuvash has had several successful runs in major and minor tournaments where he showcased his skill and adaptability. In 2018, while playing for Na’Vi, he participated in key tournaments such as the MegaFon Winter Clash where his team finished as runners-up against Team Liquid, and the DreamLeague Season 10 securing a second-place finish. These highlighted that he was capable of going up against the big dogs at the highest level. In 2019 during the ESL One Mumbai Na’Vi grabbed a respectable third place which further proved his impact.

His career after that only got better with different teams. While with OG, Chuvash played a crucial role in their victory at ESL One Malaysia 2022 where OG beat Team Aster 3-0 and earned a first-place finish, alongside $175,000. In the DPC WUE 2023 Tour 2: Division I, OG finished 4th and secured $26,000. Chuvash’s consistent performances helped Og also secure strong placements in the DPC WUE 2023 Tour 3: Division I and DreamLeague Season 19. 

His time with EXTREMUM and other teams also included some solid finishes like a first-place victory in the Dota 2 Champions League Season 4 with Creepwave. His total earnings so far currently sit a little over $124,000.
