All you need to know about Kled’s Rework in LoL Patch 25.14

All you need to know about Kled’s Rework in LoL Patch 25.14

Kled has always been one of League’s most chaotic and aggressive top laners, and Patch 25.14 brings a rework that smooths out his gameplay without removing his identity. Riot has focused on making his kit more reliable while boosting his survivability and team utility. Most of these changes improve clarity, consistency, or reward steady play, especially when dismounted.

From Skaarl’s reworked remount system and bonus resistances to a revamped ultimate with better scaling and target marking, the new Kled feels more responsive across all phases of the game.

Whether you’re a Kled main or just looking to try him out, here’s a full breakdown of what’s new in Patch 25.14. Of course, if you’re someone who wants to learn to counter this annoying champion the you can always hire a professional League of Legends coach to show you the ropes.

Passive - Skaarl, the Cowardly Lizard

Kled’s passive has been reworked quite a bit, and overall, the changes feel much smoother during gameplay.

Firstly, whenever Kled remounts Skaarl at 100 Courage, he heals instantly. This feels much more rewarding and helps him get back into the fight faster. On top of that, while Kled is dismounted, he now gains bonus armor and magic resist, which scale based on his bonus health. This bonus makes him a little tankier while he’s dismounted, which is when he’s at most risk.

Riot also made some adjustments to how Courage is gained. Now, you’ll earn +5 Courage for every minion Kled kills, but champion takedowns no longer give any. This change encourages steady farming rather than relying on big fights ot get Skaarl back.

Lastly, Kled's movement speed penalty while dismounting has been decreased. It used to slow him down by 60%, but now it’s only 40%. This makes it easier for him to reposition or escape while waiting to remount.

Q - Bear Trap / Pocket Pistol

Both versions of Kled’s Q have been adjusted to feel more balanced and easier to use.
Beginning with the mounted version, Bear Trap on Rope, it no longer applies Grievous Wounds, so you won’t be cutting enemy healing with it anymore. The ability also deals a bit less bonus AD damage now. However, to compensate, it stays attached longer and is generally easier to land, giving you more reliability during trades or all-ins.

As for his dismounted Q, Pocket Piston, Riot has made changes to make the ability function more reliably. It’s more consistent while detecting enemies now, meaning you’re less likely to miss shots due to awkward hitboxes or positioning. This tweak should make it feel smoother when trying to hit multiple pellets and build Courage more reliably.

W - Violent Tendencies

Kled’s passive attack buff has also been updated with some key changes.

The cooldown is now longer at all ranks, so you won’t be able to use it as often as before. The change means the ability scales with both his extra attack damage and extra health. This makes it a little more flexible depending on how you build him, whether you go for more damage, tankiness, or a mix of both.

Another small but welcome change is that the passive will no longer cancel if you happen to hit a ward. This quality-of-life tweak means you’ll keep the buff active even while clearing vision, making his attacks feel less clunky and more reliable during skirmishes or roaming.

E - Jousting

This ability hasn’t been changed much overall, but Riot made a few small updates to improve how it feels to use. The most noticeable difference is that the hitbox is a bit larger now, which helps it connect more consistently with targets. This should make it less frustrating in close fights where every hit matters. Riot also fixed some bugs to make the hit detection more reliable.

In addition, there’s now a visual indicator that shows when you can recast the ability. This makes it easier to time the second part correctly and gives you a clearer sense of control during fast-paced moments. The bonus AD scaling has been lowered slightly, but these quality-of-life updates help balance things out by making the ability more responsive and easier to use overall.

R - CHAAARGE!!!

Kled’s ultimate also got a few important changes in how it deals damage and works in team fights.

Firstly, the damage type has changed, and it now deals magic damage instead of physical. In addition, the scaling has been adjusted to give it a smoother power curve as the game continues. It may not hit as hard in some early cases, but it scales more reliably over time.

Another nice update is how the ability marks enemies. Now, when Kled charges, enemies in the path of the ult are marked much more clearly, which helps both you and your teammates quickly understand who’s being targeted.

There’s also a small but helpful visual improvement. Pinging the ultimate will now show which enemies are within range. This makes coordinating with your team and planning when to go all-in easier.

FAQs

Is Kled stronger or weaker after Patch 25.14?

Kled’s rework makes him more reliable and tankier while dismounted. Though he lost some early damage scaling, he’s now more consistent in extended fights and team coordination.

How does the remount mechanic work now?

Kled now heals instantly when remounting Skaarl at 100 Courage. He also gains bonus armor and magic resist while dismounted, making him less fragile during downtime.
