Marvel Rivals: How to get MVP in every game

Marvel Rivals: How to get MVP in every game

Marvel Rivals [1] has taken the hero shooter genre by storm and for good reason. Not only can players play as familiar characters from the many Marvel universes, but they can also choose whatever team composition they want. From 6 Vanguards to a team of just Duelists, the sky is the limit. However, the one thing every player aims to get is the MVP title.

Today, we’re here to go through everything players need to know about the MVP title in Marvel Rivals. Getting MVP in Marvel Rivals means having the greatest contributions to the game. However, because of how this is tallied, it's incredibly difficult for players to get MVP while playing strategist.

So, without further ado, here is everything players need to know about getting MVP in Marvel Rivals.

What is MVP in Marvel Rivals?

MVP, or Most Valuable Player, is awarded to the top-performing player on the winning team. While many games offer this title to the player who collects the most kills, Marvel Rivals acknowledges more than that. This article describes how the MVP system works and tips to increase your chances of becoming one of the most-prized winners.

While becoming an MVP doesn’t exactly win the player anything, whether it be in-game currency or a permanent title, it’s still a cool way for the game to recognize the player’s contribution. Only those who play their role to the best of their capabilities can get the MVP title, though some tips and tricks can help with this.

Key factors that determine MVP in Marvel Rivals

Below are some of the most important facts that determine whether a player gets the MVP title in Marvel Rivals.

  • Kills: The most obvious factor is getting kills, meaning a larger number of eliminations allows you to have a higher chance of becoming MVP.
  • Assists: These are when you deal damage to an enemy but don’t kill them. Lowering their health makes it easier for your teammates to take them down, so assists also contribute to getting MVP.
  • Damage dealt: By dealing high outputs of damage, you can help your team by effectively taking down enemy defenses. This is important for getting your team past certain obstacles and through vicious fights.
  • Damage blocked: Blocking enemy damage to protect your team during onslaughts by enemies is critical to team survival and success. This is commonly the role of Tank characters- so if you’re one, make sure to focus on blocking damage to increase your MVP chances!
  • Healing Provided: Support characters are important assets to the team. By providing healing, these players keep teammates alive during fierce battles. Their contribution is not ignored, as the amount of healing a player provides their team can seriously boost them toward getting that distinguished title.
  • Accuracy: Dealing accurate shots to take enemies down efficiently protects and contributes to team success. If you main a character like Hawkeye whose abilities revolve around long-range accurate blows, this can be your ticket to the title.

Tips for getting MVP in Marvel Rivals

Now that you know how players can get the MVP title in Marvel Rivals, it's time to go through some tips players can utilize to get it more consistently. Remember, there's no confirmation you'll get MVP in a game unless you have an overwhelmingly high gap in KDA compared to your teammates.

Have a Massive Kill & Assist Count:

  • Eliminate threats: If you have an opportunity to kill an opponent, take it. However, this doesn't mean you should go out and focus solely on getting kills as this may hinder your team's success. Focus on objectives and play with your team's strategies, but once you get the chance, snag the kill.
  • Assist your comrades: Assist your comrades by dealing damage to lower enemy health, even if you can't land the final blow. Sometimes your teammates may be better positioned to finish enemies off but do what you can to make it easier for them.
  • Be opportunistic: Look for openings and vulnerabilities in your enemies. Punish their offense by picking off overly aggressive front liners. If you notice weaknesses in their gameplay and synergy, take full advantage. Does the enemy team have an overly excited duelist who's separating from their team or out of the healer's reach? Are the tanks not playing into their roles and blocking damage? Targeting enemy support characters can greatly weaken the opposing team.

Tips for Duelists

  • Maximise damage output: Focus on tight clustered areas to spew out large bursts of damage. If you have an ultimate that entails huge AoE damage, utilize it on groups of enemies. You may not get all the kills but lowering them will assist your team in taking them down.
  • Utilize abilities: To utilize abilities most effectively, you may require some practice. Once you can confidently play the character, you'll find their abilities to be immensely useful in dealing damage- whether it's Wolverine's rapid claw attacks or Star-Lord's blasters. You can learn insanely powerful combos to make even basic attacks lethal.
  • Practice your aim: While it may not be the same as using abilities, many free shooter platforms like Aimlabs [2] can offer you a place to practice your aim without facing any losses. To practice abilities and combos, you can indulge in quick plays using you main. Greater accuracy while taking down targets, especially with characters like Hawkeye and The Punisher will increase your overall performance. Never practice your aim, abilities, or try out new characters in competitive mode to avoid deranking.

Tips for Strategists

  • Keep your team alive: If you are a support, make sure to focus more on healing your teammates and keeping them buffed. Support characters are often the backbone of the team, keeping them up and allowing them to stay aggressive. Being a support character may mean that you'll have to let go of some kills in exchange for saving low HP teammates, but once you find a balance between attacking and supporting, nothing is standing between you and the title of MVP.
  • Priorities: Let's say two of your teammates are in dire need of healing but you can only help one. You'll want to always make sure you prioritize the teammates who are actively contributing to the team, whether it's a tank who has led your team through onslaughts of attacks or a duelist whose accurate and effective ability use is taking out enemies left and right.
  • As mentioned before, it's extremely difficult for players to get MVP when they're playing strategist. It may be a better idea to try playing other roles or a damage strategist like Adam Warlock if you want the title.

Minimize Deaths:

  • Keep risks to a minimum: Do not recklessly charge or make overly aggressive plays that can land you dead before reaching the first objective. While baiting may be smart sometimes, it's usually bad for the team, so you should focus on other, more effective strategies. Especially if you're a support character, make sure you're not pretending to be a duelist and charging at enemies on the front lines.
  • Position advantageously: Position yourself in a way that you can maximize your damage output and accuracy while also making it hard for enemies to spot you and fire back. Effective positioning is important for all types of characters, so try to keep yourself out of danger as much as possible without outright hiding and being useless to your team. An example of this is Penny Parker's spider bots on the first objective of Klyntar: Symbiotic Surface- she can place them behind boxes where enemies can't see them, but they can slow the enemies' advance
  • Learn from your mistakes: Assess your decisions for improvement and try to understand what mistake you made. Resolve to actively avoid doing it again.

Use Your Hero's Strength:

  • Know your hero's roles: Make sure you’re playing your hero’s role properly to avoid weaknesses in your team. Readily provide heals if you're a Strategist character, and protect your team from oncoming damage if you're a Vanguard.

Teamwork and Communication:

Team-up heroes including Ragnarok Rebirth, Metallic Chaos, Planet X Pals, and Symbiote Bond.
  • Communicate effectively: Communication is essential for success. If everyone is focused on their individual goals or ignoring the team's attempts to strategize, the enemy is bound to take advantage of the disorganization. Remember to use voice or text chat to coordinate with your team, share information, and call out enemy positions.
  • Support your teammates: Play to your team’s strengths by adapting to their needs. For example, if a support teammate is effectively buffing and healing the team, make sure to cover them and watch out for flanks. If a tank is leading the team to the objective through enemy attacks, make sure to assist wherever you can or provide heals.
