How to Change Language in LoL 2024

Nothing beats being able to play your favorite game in your native language, and League of Legends is no different in this regard. However, unfortunately, Riot isn't exactly straight forward when it comes to how players can change their language, but we're here with some brand new and easy to follow methods.

If you only want to change the text language of the game, then you can do so by launching the client without logging in and accessing the settings. However, if you want to change the in game language then you'll have to launch your file explorer, locate League and create a shortcut. Then, you have to go to properties and change the language manually.

Changing the Text Language in LoL

First things first, how do you change the text language in League of Legends? All you have to do is:

1. First, open the Riot Client but be careful to not log in
2. Then, click the little icon in the top right corner and select 'settings.'
3. Press ''League of Legends'' on the left side.
4. From the list of languages, you want to select your preferred language.
5. Finally, press the ''Repair'' Button.

Remember, with this, the language of the text will be changed to your selected language. However, the in game audio will remain unchanged.

If you want to change the actual in game language then you''ll have to do a little more than just going to the settings. You'll have to:

1. First, open the Riot client and log in to your account
2. Then, you click on your profile on the top right and move to the settings option
3. In the Riot client subheading, uncheck 'Open Riot Client on startup.'
4. With this done, close the League window and open your file explorer
5. Now, you want to locate the League of Legends files (C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\)
6. Scroll down and locate the League client .exe file then right click on it
7. Click on create shortcut. This shortcut will be used to change the language for you
8. To make things easier, drag and drop the shortcut to your desktop
9. Now, close the file explorer window and right click on your newly created shortcut and move to 'priorities'.
10. Now, you want to paste the language code after the target name and the language will be changed.

So, all the language codes are:

• ja_JP: Japanese
• zh_CN: Chinese
• zh_TW: Taiwanese
• es_ES: Spanish (Spain)
• es_MX: Spanish (Latin America)
• fr_FR: French
• de_DE: German
• it_IT: Italian
• pl_PL: Polish
• ro_RO: Romanian
• el_GR: Greek
• pt_BR: Portuguese
• hu_HU: Hungarian
• ru_RU: Russian
• tr_TR: Turkish

Therefore, say that you want to change the language to Russian. In that case, you'll change the properties of your shortcut to be 'C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\LeagueClient.exe' --locale=ru_RU

Well, the thing is that Riot has been talking about adding a way for players to be able to easily change the in game language as they wish. However, even though they had said this last year, they are yet to add the feature to the game.
