How to get Metal Coat in Pokémon Legends Z-A?

How to get Metal Coat in Pokémon Legends Z-A?

The Pokémon series has always had a myriad of items that players can give to their little buddies to increase their efficiency. This ranges from increasing their default stats to making it so they can hit faster or harder. The Metal Coat is one such item, primarily thanks to just how useful it can be when attempting to evolve certain Pokémon.

To get the Metal Coat in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, players must either purchase it from Racine Construction or complete the Steadfast as Steel or A Feather from Skarmory side missions. While these methods are doable fairly late into the game, they’re the only ways to get this evolution item.

So, if you’ve been wondering where to get the Metal Coat in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, keep reading because we have you covered.

Where is the Metal Coat in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?

There are only three distinct ways that players can get the Metal Coat in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Where to buy Metal Coat in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?

The first and most straightforward method is to buy it from a worker in the Racine Construction building for 4,980 Poké Dollars. This NPC also sells multiple other items, including Miracle Seeds, Black Belts, Magnets, and more.

However, the issue with this method is that it’s only usable after the credits have rolled and you’ve completed the main game. While it’s an excellent way to give your post-game team a much-needed boost in power, it isn’t viable for those who want their main game team to have powerhouses like Steelix.

Which side missions give Metal Coat in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?

Two side missions reward players with a Metal Coat for their tobles. The first mission is Side Mission 101, Steadfast as Steel. This mission shows up during Main Mission 35, which is fairly late into the game, and is given in front of the entrance of Wild Zone 17. The second side mission is Side Mission 114, A Feather from Skarmory. This one appears after the credits have rolled, so if you want a Metal Coat after completing the main mission, you’ll probably be better off just buying it.

What does the Metal Coat do in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

The Metal Coat is an evolutionary item in Pokémon Legends: Z-A that’s used to evolve certain Pokémon. In particular, it’s used to evolve Onix into Steelix and Scizor into Scyther by having the previous forms of both Pokémon [1] hold a Metal Coat while being traded. Considering the fact that both Pokémon have Mega forms, it makes sense that players may want to get their hands on both or at least one of the two.
