Marvel Rivals could see a release on the Nintendo Switch 2

Marvel Rivals has been catching steam ever since it first dropped, and for good reason. The game has multiple fan-favorite characters, from Spider-Man to Iron Man, and more are incoming constantly. However, the game is fairly demanding, which is why most may struggle to run it smoothly.

It seems portable Nintendo players may have a way to play the game soon. According to new reports, Marvel Rivals may eventually come to the Nintendo Switch successor. Given, of course, the console’s specs are good enough to run the game.

NetEase is open to a Switch 2 Marvel Rivals release

Marvel Rivals, the hero shooter that has taken PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC by storm, could launch in the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Although everyone deems the original Nintendo Switch underpowered to support the game, NetEase Games ^[1] has expressed interest in bringing Marvel Rivals to the new Nintendo console.

In an interview with IGN at the 2025 DICE Summit in Las Vegas, Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu confirms that the development team is in contact with Nintendo and has access to development kits. Wu states that if the Nintendo Switch 2 has the necessary performance, NetEase would be open to bringing Marvel Rivals to the platform.

Switch 2’s advanced features may benefit Marvel Rivals

The Nintendo Switch 2 was officially announced in January 2025, and fans expect it to be a powerful successor to the original Switch. Although there isn’t much information regarding the console, reports suggest it will include a unique mouse-like functionality in its Joy-Con controller. This feature can improve the gameplay experience by allowing players to move the camera with a mouse instead of an analog stick. This functionality is great in a game like Marvel Rivals, where gamers rely on fast and precise aiming.

NetEase refrained from releasing Marvel Rivals on the original Switch due to technical limitations, which would have ruined the players’ experience due to bad performance. However, the Switch 2 might be able to handle the game well.

A Nintendo Direct may reveal more details

The Nintendo Switch 2 doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet, but a Nintendo Direct set to take place on April 2 will provide more details. While nothing is set in stone, NetEase’s willingness to bring Marvel Rivals to the Switch 2 is good news for Nintendo fans and players who love portable gaming.
