Rocket League: Can You Trade Blueprints?

Rocket League: Can You Trade Blueprints?

In Rocket League there are a surprising number of items and obtainables. Whereas some of those items come premade, others need to be crafted or interacted with in a certain way. Blueprints are items that fall in the latter category as you have to use credits to build the luxury item associated with it. However, what if you don't want to do that and instead want to trade them with someone?

Fortunately, blueprints are indeed tradable. However, there are a couple of things you have to keep in mind first. For starters, you can only trade revealed blueprints as unrevealed blueprints are not tradable. Additionally, if you're trying to build an item that was built from a blueprint, then you can only trade on the same platform.

Worry not as we'll be going through everything you need to know about trading blueprints in Rocket League.

What Are Blueprints?

Before knowing how to trade blueprints, it's first crucial to know what exactly blueprints are in Rocket League. Now, Blueprints are essentially digital plans for specific items, including cars, decals, wheels, and more. When you acquire a Blueprint, you can see exactly what item it will create and how much it will cost to build.

Blueprints were introduced in Rocket League as a replacement for the randomized crate system. Previously, players could purchase crates with keys and then open them to reveal a random item. However, this system was heavily criticized.

Crafting Items From Blueprints

To create an item from a Blueprint, you need to spend Credits, which is the in-game currency. The cost of crafting an item varies depending on its rarity and type. Some items may be relatively inexpensive to craft, while others can be quite costly.

Therefore, if you're planning to build a blueprint item, then you best start saving up credits. Once you have enough Credits, you can simply select the Blueprint and create the item you desire.

Trading Blueprints in Rocket League

With that out of the way, it's time to talk about whether or not you can trade blueprints in Rocket League. Well, fortunately, while you can indeed trade blueprints, it's crucial that those said blueprints are revealed. This means the blueprints you want to trade cannot have originated from crates back when the blueprints update first came out.

Additionally, how the trade itself goes depends on what sort of trade you're doing, as there are two types of trades you can conduct in Rocket League.

Using the Blueprints Trade-In System

As players progress in Rocket League, they often find themselves accumulating numerous Blueprints of varying rarities. To address this, the game introduced the Trade-In system. Here's how it works:

Exchange 5 Blueprints of the same rarity to receive one Blueprint of the next rarity level. For instance, trading five exotic Blueprints will yield one black market Blueprint, while trading five very rare Blueprints will result in one import Blueprint. This system encourages players to trade up their Blueprints for more valuable items.

Here's a quick rundown of Blueprint rarity levels in Rocket League:

To access the Trade-In menu, head to the Blueprint Storage screen and right-click on the Blueprint you wish to trade. Remember, as we said previously, unrevealed blueprints can NOT be traded.

Engaging in Blueprint Player-to-Player Trading

Contrary to some players' concerns, both Revealed Blueprints and items crafted from Blueprints can be traded with other players. However, Rocket League's trading system doesn't facilitate matchmaking between traders. Instead, players need to take the initiative and find trading partners themselves.

With that being said, here's how you can engage in player-to-player trading in Rocket League:

  1. Explore popular Rocket League trading websites, Discord groups, or online forums where players gather to trade items. These platforms provide a marketplace for finding potential trading partners.
  2. Once you've connected with a potential trading partner and agreed on the terms of the trade, you can proceed to finalize the transaction in Rocket League.
  3. To do this, invite the other player to your party (or join their party) and select their username.
  4. Here, you'll get the option to "Invite to trade" which you have to select.

Sounds simple? Well, that's because it is. However, there are a couple of things you have to keep in mind before you can start trading with other players. These things include:

Finally, you should always beware of scammers. Always remember to avoid giving away your Blueprints before receiving payment or agreed-upon items in return.
