Team Spirit wins DreamLeague S25 after defeating Tundra Esports

Dota 2 ^[1] may not have nearly as many fans as League of Legends, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t popular. All one has to do to see just how loved the game is is to take one look at Dota 2’s competitive scene. In particular, tournaments organized by Valve consistently rake in multiple eyes worldwide while also having extremely high cash prizes for the winning teams.

One of the most beloved tournaments has to be DreamLeague. DreamLeague S25 just concluded and those who missed it also missed the comeback streak of a lifetime as Team Spirit came back into the fray and dominated the tournament in a way few teams have before. With the grand final just ending, fans of Team Spirit are over the moon as their favorite team just won DreamLeague S25.

Here’s what to know about Team Spirit’s comeback win in the DreamLeague S25 tournament and what they got for it.

Team Spirit’s triumph

Team Spirit secured their first major victory since Raddan and Collapse’s return by defeating Tundra Esports 3-2 in the Grand Final of DreamLeague Season 25. It was a difficult win, marked by numerous comebacks, resilience, and overcoming a DDoS attack that damaged their momentum. The victory solidifies Team Spirit’s reputation as one of the most resilient and skilled teams in the Dota 2 professional scene.

Team Spirit’s victory at DreamLeague Season 25 earned them $250,000 and 4,620 EPT points.  

Lower bracket battles

Team Spirit’s journey to the Grand Final began in the lower brackets, where they defeated Chimera 2-1. Their next opponent was PARAVISION, who dominated the second Group Stage with a 7-0 record. Team Spirit pulled off two comebacks in the series despite being written off.

In Game 1, they won thanks to Yatoro’s Slark despite being at a gold disadvantage the entire game. Game 2 had another comeback, and Yatoro and Collapse led the charge, outmaneuvering every opponent.

Grand Final

Team Spirit continued their comeback streak while facing Tundra Esports, a team the community considers one of the best in the world. They executed an incredible four-protect-one strategy in the first game, which secured their third consecutive comeback. Tundra won the second game to level the series. Game 3 seemed to favor Tundra, but Yatoro’s Slark delivered another spectacular play, marking Team Spirit’s fourth comeback.

DDoS attack

Team Spirit’s strength was tested in Game 4 when a DDoS attack forced a two-hour tech pause, which erased their progress and led to a postponement. When the match resumed, Team Spirit was outdrafted and stomped in 26 minutes. They maintained their composure and defeated Tundra in the fifth game despite the setback, claiming the championship title.

Raddan’s MVP performance

Raddan’s return to the roster was pivotal to Team Spirit’s success. His exceptional carry plays, especially in high-pressure moments, earned him recognition as one of the best carry players. His game sense and split-second decision-making allowed Team Spirit to thrive in late-game scenarios. The team’s synergy and ability to enable Raddan were crucial to their victory.
